I'm really sorry for all the junior designers who have to deal with these job openings while just starting their career. Some excerpts from the list of expectations : - Minimum 2 years of experience in high viability consumer apps - Do everything design-related: from appstore screenshots to conducting research, designing user flows etc - Autonomous management of your design process from idea to execution - Handling multiple complex projects at the same time at the fast pace - Portfolio exhibiting great visual design execution - Stakeholders management/presentation skills Am I missing something or seems like these days everyone wants a senior person for a price of a part-time student? I know designers with 15 years of experience who's bad in half of those things and still considered great team members and talented pros.
⚠️ We're on the lookout for a junior designer to join our product team ⚠️ This is an ideal role for someone with a few years of B2C/social product design experience. Our small but highly experienced product team offers a unique opportunity to work on features that reach millions of people every day, while being part of an awesome team to learn from. Check out the link for more details. ⚠️ #designjobs #productdesign #juniorposition

What level should we hire a Founding Product Designer? In my experience, I've seen a higher rate of success when the company commits to hiring a Snr (and beyond) Level Designer. That Seniority of experience brings expertise primarily in the form of speed. They are faster, they know the way through (because they've navigated failures already) and they are able to get Your Product to market and to Customers faster and more effectively than a less experienced Designer. When growing and scaling is key to your businesses success, it's a huge value add to bring in the experience levels you need. It'll be far more worth it - I've seen it, many times! #designhiring #foundingdesigner

Staff Product & Design Recruiter @ Wave Talent | Co-Founder at Design Leaders | 54 LinkedIn Recommendations
A 'Senior Product Designer' could have: 4 years of experience at one company. 7 years of experience at another company. 10 years of experience at another company. A 'Senior Product Designer' could be paid: £60k base at one company. £90k base at another company. £120k base at another company. The truth is that levels have become pretty irrelevant, especially since the industry has been through a whirlwind and there's a larger fluctuation between levels and salary packages than we've ever seen before. Keep this in mind when your company is using external benchmarking documents to dictate what salaries you're offering. 👉 Is the benchmarking level of seniority the same as yours? 👉 A senior at one company could be at mid-weight at yours or visa versa. 👉 Product Designers - don't be too put off by a title. Explore what the role entails and offers. 👉 If you move from one company to another and are hiring, get to grips quickly with your new company's level of seniority compared to what you're used to. It could save you a lot of wasted time when recruiting.

Over 100/200/500 applicants on the job posting. Should you apply? I will share real numbers on the 3 last roles I was hiring for. In June, I posted 3 jobs on Linkedin: - Senior UX Designer, US-remote - Staff Product Designer, Europe-remote - Product Design Director, US-remote I received 400+ applications in the first days of posting these roles. The numbers are in the carousel 👉 ………............................... My friends and candidates keep saying: “There are so many applicants for this role already, I don’t think I should apply” In fact, on average 85% of the resumes do not pass the minimum requirements bar. Out of the remaining 15%, most won’t qualify either. With design roles, it’s usually about the portfolio. ………............................... So, next time you come across a job listing that seems perfect for you, don’t let the number of applicants hold you back. If you meet the requirements and believe you can add value: Please, APPLY 🙏 #careers #hiring #hiringtrends #jobapplication #linkedintips

I've come across so many talented entry-level designers, bursting with creativity and potential, yet struggling to secure that golden opportunity. It's disheartening to see their brilliance go unrecognized simply because they haven't found the right company or project to showcase their skills. But here's the thing—I firmly believe that talent, persistence, and a sprinkle of luck can change everything. To all entry-level designers out there: keep honing your craft, keep growing your network, and keep showcasing your work. Your breakthrough moment is just around the corner. To companies and hiring managers: consider the untapped potential of entry-level designers. They may lack experience, but their fresh perspectives, enthusiasm, and hunger to learn can inject new life into your projects. Let's create more opportunities for entry-level designers to gain real-world experience, understand the intricacies of UX projects, and flourish in their careers. Together, we can empower the next generation of UX leaders. Keep designing, keep pushing forward, keep dreaming big, and remember—your opportunity is waiting to be seized. #productdesign #uiuxdesign #uidesign #uxdesign #nft #web3 #fashion #figma #design #project
