If you are looking for a new team member of a Mid-Senior level in Environmental Sciences or Urban Planning, I ask you to consider this... 🎯 🤔 🤔 🤔 "What makes your team different?". 😶 In private consultancy, candidates in these professions with between 3-6 years experience are the most highly sought in their respective industries.🎆 It may be surprising to hear that it's not necessarily because there is a candidate shortage, but rather, candidates are saying "it's all just much of the same". 😒 For instance, for Urban Planners working in development assessment, the process of lodging a development application itself is essentially the same for us all. Thus, candidates are often unincited by a new opportunity as they are commonly asking "will it just be like for like?". Unless someone has forever aspired to work at your practice and you are to that person offering them their "dream job", making a move from one private practice to another at this level isn't "very appealing". 🙎♀️🙎♂️ Sure, there will different clientele and your consultancy may offer a certain specialisation, but what can you offer those who know the process, are already competent and that say they "are happy where they are"? 💬 Please, before you say it, salary isn't it and for goodness sake, don't say "a great culture". It's not enough. Candidates are wise to the fact that money doesn't buy you happiness at work and are frankly "sick of hearing about a businesses great culture". 😖 Have a think about it.
