I landed back from Andalusia yesterday evening, and gratefully delivered two workshops today to two amazing groups of folks. What I'm always fascinated by, and love about our work, is the direction in which these #psychologicalsafety workshops go. I can never predict where it will go - sometimes we end up discussing the nuances of human error, sometimes the practicalities of innovation. Today, the morning session found us getting into statistical process control and continual improvement in quality, and in the afternoon, the design and utility of different kinds of checklists. And this is also, I believe, why #psychologicalsafety training must be firmly anchored in the real-world practice of work, in contexts relevant to the attendees. Theory < Practice.

What is the research behind the circumplex model? My digital brain 👉 The Circumplex model was developed by Dr. J. Clayton Lafferty, the founder of Human Synergistics International, during the early 1970s. It builds on the ideas and research of several people, including Albert Ellis, Karen Horney, Timothy Leary, Norman R.F. Maier, Abraham Maslow, David C. McClelland, Carl Rogers, and Henry Stack Sullivan, as well as Lafferty’s own work as a clinical psychologist. The model provides a picture of our thinking and behavior styles and is the foundation for the assessments included in the HS’ multi-level Performance Improvement System. The HS circumplex was initially designed for the Life Styles Inventory™ (LSI), a survey that provides respondents with feedback on their self-concept or self-image. How do I use biofeedback technology in my practice? Biofeedback is a tool used to measure the body's physiological responses. With this information, we train you to actively influence your internal state in order to promote an appropriate stress response depending on the task demand. Often times people report feeling relaxed during training sessions, which is a wonderful side effect but regulation is the goal! A regulated nervous system means your heart isn't racing and your palms aren't sweaty before a big meeting. A regulated nervous system means when you spill your coffee you aren't screaming profanities at the puddle of espresso on the floor. A regulated nervous system means when your out to dinner with your spouse, you are present in the moment and not distracted by your to-do list. A regulated nervous system allows you to make the most of this chaotic and random world we live in.
