Employee Spotlight: Meet Jackie! For the past twenty years, Jackie has been an integral part of our Northwest location maintaining our patient's electronic medical records. She values the people she works with most: "This group of doctors, management, and staff are very knowledgeable, helpful, and reasonable." Outside of work, Jackie is an accomplished musician with a BM in flute performance. She performs with multiple bands and musical societies. At home, she looks after her 101-year-old father. They enjoy the company of two dogs and their newest furry friend, an 8-month-old kitten named Lea, who was rescued from our EHN Northwest parking lot. (Lea is short for Eylea, the injections we use to treat macular degeneration). We are celebrating 70 years of caring for our Portland communities! Starting in 1954 at a small community eye care center in Oregon City, we’ve evolved over the decades through mergers with East Portland Eyecare, Oregon Medical Eye Clinic in 1997 and Oregon Eye Specialists in 2022, to become the largest doctor-owned eye clinic in the Northwest. Now, with over 500 dedicated employees, 18 convenient locations, and 2 state-of-the-art surgery centers, we remain steadfast in our commitment to expert care and preserving a lifetime of vision for our patients. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our amazing team members and the trust of our wonderful patients. We are pleased to announce that Thelma Nemarundwe, MBA, CMPE has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer of EyeHealth Northwest. Thelma began her career 25 years ago at the North Portland office as an optical assistant and worked her way up to being an optician. She then went on to manage both the North Portland and Hillsboro offices before becoming the Clinic Operations Manager for the Oregon City group (Milwaukie, Sunnyside, Wilsonville and Oregon City offices). Since 2019, she has been responsible for all practice operations as our Director of Operations.   In her roles, Thelma has embodied our practice’s cultural values of commitment, dedication, friendliness and excellence. Her steadfast commitment to smooth and efficient operations, dedication to excellent patient care, deep knowledge of all things EHN, and relationships she has built with our community partners on quality measures have earned her the title of EHN’s first-ever COO. We thank Thelma for her continued contributions to Eye Health Northwest and look forward to all she will continue to accomplish.
