Happy Monday! We’re excited to catch up with our High School Interns who have worked hard over the last two weeks, learning the ropes of installing meters, fixing pumps, calculating control valves. They’ve also been having a blast joining our mechanical team in field day activities. A big shout out to our contractors, Turner Industries and Deep South Crane and Rigging, for graciously hosting our interns and taking the time to discover their interests and passions to help guide them toward exciting career possibilities! #furtureworkforce

Early this year at work, after I completed my assigned task for the day, I walked around in the factory to see if I could offer a helping hand to my colleagues who are still working on their various task. Reaching out to one group performing welding and fabrication task, the oxygen cylinder hose got busted, I quickly closed the valve on the cylinder. One trainee said “we are lucky you arrived at the scene instantly ”. Their team leader being the senior welder started complaining by saying, “they don’t know how to regulate the pressure valves on the cylinders but they want to use the cutting nozzle, why won’t the hose bust.” He said that in angry mood. I questioned him, “have you taught those guys the function and how to regulate the pressure valves on the cylinders”. He replied “ concert, are we here to work or teach people work “ I smiled and left their site. Fast forward, I started asking myself a lot of questions, why did this man responded with such answer in front of the trainees, do he think his kids and siblings will fit into the job market automatically after completing their various courses in the university ? No. Dear team leads, impacting and sharing your experience with trainees to help them attain their feet on the job doesn’t automatically mean they will perform better than you. Having a positive influence in someone’s life can make the difference you have been praying for in years. Have a great weekend and a new month. #Experience #Letimpact #Engineering #Oilpalm #Sustainability #Safety #Success.

Dave's latest trainees have had the opportunity to see first hand how we use tube expanders for enlarging the ends of firetubes to ensure a tight fit within the tube sheet. This procedure is essential for maintaining the efficiency and safety of our boilers. By only welding the heat transfer tubes at the hottest end the tubes can expand and contract with the boiler, eliminating tube ends cracks that are common in boilers with tubes fixed at both ends. #madeinbritain #manufacturing #steamboiler #engineering #byworthboilers #jointheinnovators #welding #britishengineering #britishmanufacturing

Head of Projects at legacy manufacturing solutions limited | Delivering Complex Manufacturing Projects
From Overwhelmed Apprentice to Confident Pro: The Journey of Understanding the Power of Learning and Confidence. Remember the first time you were faced with a seemingly impossible task? That's how I felt when I was assigned to the chocolate and confectionery division of the factory as an electrical apprentice. At 16, the electrical foreman Peter Maddock seemed like a giant, but I soon learned I had nothing to fear. I was introduced to John Thurston, who would change my life as an electrician. He had a gift for simplifying even the most complex electrical drawings, and he pushed and tested me every step of the way. My first big job was connecting two control panels, and John taught me that each cable was numbered and easy to understand. Over the coming months, I learned that no matter how complex the job may seem, we can complete it with time, confidence, and support. John took everything slowly and explained things clearly, building my confidence and enthusiasm for my chosen career. Today, I still use the same sound and logical approach in solving complex project problems for my clients. The simplicity comes from breaking tasks into manageable chunks, making the route to success more straightforward and faster. Our ability to understand and simplify our client’s project requirements sets us apart regarding client satisfaction. It's a philosophy. It's a culture. It's a mindset. Quality is one of our most important values. It has to be when we spend our days constructing equipment designed to contain dangerous materials, and it's why we don't hire anyone who doesn't personally uphold quality as much as we, as a company, do. That means that you can trust that everyone who touches your project- from our project managers to the newest apprentice welder on the shop floor- is doing their absolute best to deliver you the kind of consistent quality that you can stake your business and your people's safety on. Because when you need projects like this, that's exactly what you're doing. #qualitymatters #tiwsteelplatework #steelconstruction #storagetanks #steelfabricators

“I was hired as an Engineer, not a Welder.” You’re not wrong. BUT, why not step out and do it anyway? You never know, you might just learn a skill that will make you more valuable in your career. You may even build a bond with those that build your plans. I’ve had roles in my career that should have been called Engineer+ because my job was more than just an Engineer. I’ve learned so much during those jobs from the people that don’t sit at the desks that I did. By stepping out from time to time, I learned there is a middle ground where Engineering and Manufacturing meet together to unify. No, you wasn’t hired to do that job. But learn more, connect with people from other responsibilities, make yourself valuable.
