Have you been feeling a growing discomfort at some of the changes taking place in our society over the past decade including: - Increasingly extreme positions being taken on things like gender ideology and race issues? - Attempts to suppress free speech and the 'cancellation' of views that don't adhere to a particular narrative? - Moves away from pragmatic policy on Climate Change toward more extreme action and the adoption of policies which border on religion rather than science? Perhaps you've also been concerned as you've watched the role of the traditional family coming under threat as the State seeks to insert itself, more and more, into the care and indoctrination of our children? Maybe you've wondered how such ideas, have gained traction so comprehensively and so fast? You're not alone. Survey after survey tells us that these concerns cross the political divide and that these changes are out of step with the views of most kiwis on both the traditional right and the traditional left - meaning you're in the majority. So where is this stuff coming from and how have the views of extremists become so influential? Some of it comes from international mandates that NZ has signed up to, some is the result of decades of political activism, some comes from 'true believer' politicians, and a lot of it comes from the impressionable and opinionated children who now control our media newsrooms. Certainly there has been opposition to this agenda. Conservative groups have sprung up to address specific concerns (some with which I have been involved) - and the election of the new Government has provided hope that some of the excesses will be rolled back in line with what most of us want. But there is one organisation which towers over all of these in respect of the role that it has played as the gatekeeper of, and advocate for, kiwi values: Family First. Led by the irrepressible Bob McCoskrie, no other organisation has had the impact of Family First and, frankly, no other organisation has understood the potential danger posed to our society by the ideas being promoted. Bob is a friend of mine, but he doesn't know that I'm writing this. Nor does he know how much I admire the extraordinary work that he and his team have done and how much of a debt of gratitude this nation owes to him for representing our views in an environment that is determined to suppress them. Watch the video below or check out www.familyfirst.org.nz. You won't agree with all of their positions - but you'll get a sense of just how effective this organisation is and how important it is that its work continues. Voting for change, last October, was a great step in the right direction - but it wasn't enough. Politicians can be influenced by lobby groups and media pressure - so it's important that Family First remains as a strong counterweight to the agenda of those who are trying to corrupt our children and destroy our society. I urge you to support them and their work....

Here's a look at the history of #Juneteenth and a recap of how it was celebrated in different parts of the country yesterday. How did you or your business honor and celebrate the day? While not all businesses give employees time off for this federal holiday yet (39% of companies reported time off in 2024 - up 6% from 2023), we can help spread awareness and make sure this number grows each year. #dei #freedom #independence #uniting https://lnkd.in/ehXhuc8S

After democratic elections saw a coalition of opposition parties win a majority in the National Assembly in December 2015, the Venezuelan government proceeded to systematically strip the powers of the National Assembly. In January 2016, President Nicolas Maduro declared a state of emergency and has since been ruling by decree. As a result of the government’s systematic erosion of Venezuela’s democratic institutions and its grave human rights abuses, an Association between Canada and the United States was formed on September 5, 2017, which called on its members to take economic measures against Venezuela and persons responsible for its current situation. There were exceptions, and thankfully international humanitarian organizations were one. Even so, designing, writing and submitting a direct food assistance project for approval for Bolivar, Venezuela in 2019 was no easy feat. We worked for months right up until Christmas Eve and picked it up again on Boxing Day. Those were months of relentless effort, grinding, long days that spilled over into nights. Meetings were one part coaching, one part planning, one part technical and one part inspiration. They had to be. My counterparts were learning and the team was persevering through unpaid work, a lengthy approval process, and a national economic crisis that also was impacting them. Throughout the journey, from the very first keystroke to food trucks rolling into communities, the ability to inspire became paramount. There were moments of despair among our Venezuelan partners, demanding my support as a project manager to keep them motivated and hopeful. My news of the project’s final approval was met with joy and brought tears of relief and gratitude to us all. With the project underway, my marketing and communications expertise activated. Our partners agreed that our mission extended beyond the provision of food; we aimed to empower project participants, predominantly women with young children, to share their stories. Despite financial constraints and logistical hurdles, I advocated passionately for investments in equipment and training, emphasizing their value in amplifying the voices of the Venezuelan people. It was not easy. Strict national and international COVID-19 restrictions were in place by that time and travel was banned. I thought perhaps we could send camera equipment and train via zoom but at the time there was no money available for camera equipment in a GAC-funded food assistance project. So, I worked hard to convince my leadership that this was an investment in the Venezuelan people, and their ability to tell their own stories. They finally relented, and paying out of pocket, permitted me to put a field camera kit together, ship it to Venezuela, then train weekly for months via zoom to stunning results. Here is one of many stories we captured, filmed by a young volunteer, in a country grappling with a crumbling economy. #dignifiedstorytelling #oneworld #inhervoice

Can any of my actuarial or mathematician geeky type friends validate that: “Tens of Millions” is correct - Calling Bullshit (Again) Citing my mates at Google “tens of millions” is a phrase used to mention something huge in number. It could be any number above 10 million & below 100 million Currently 26+ Million in Oz In 2021, there were 315,705 babies born to 311,360 mothers in Australia. Let’s say work on 200k per year for the last 100 years and we get tens of millions of babies not boat people As of 2023, Australia's net overseas migration was 152.2 thousand people. In the 50s Agreements were reached with Britain, some European countries and with the International Refugee Organisation to encourage migrants, including displaced persons from war-torn Europe. By 1950, almost 200,000 people had arrived We would have to have this same number each and every year to get 2 million per decade ( and we didn’t ) them every decade for 7 decades gets us to 14 million - I guess if that were true ( but its just sensational maths ) Few of Craig’s teams own stats below Happy to be corrected as I was really bad at Maths ( Year 10 was the best five years of my life !) https://lnkd.in/gt3ryznT

Signing ‘The Foster Family’ on the Welcome Wall at the National Maritime Museum, which celebrates the tens of millions of Australians who arrived in Australia, mostly by boat. My family came in the early 1800’s. By boat. And yet we attack, demonise and exclude others who do so. People have a right to seek safety and we need to acknowledge our responsibility to show the world how they should be welcomed.
