The second edition of the UK-Francophone West and Central Africa Trade and Investment Forum (WCAF) is concluding today in London and whilst it is extremely rare to see such events tailored for such a select group of African countries, it is reflective of recent efforts by the UK authorities to deepen economic cooperation ties with these countries. Below, you can see have a look at a piece that I wrote for Business Day wherein I highlighted some of the motivating factors behind this scenario including (but not limited to); favourable economic growth rates, improving business climates, the signature of bilateral Economic Partnership Agreement's (EPA's) and the declining influence of France in the region. TURKEY’S MARKET IS OPEN FOR FOREIGN INVESTMENT Commercial Counsellors from Turkish Chamber of Commerce (Mr. Okur Erdogan and Ms. ilker Eralp) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ms. Reitumetse Ratjeke) paid a courtesy call to LCCI Offices with the purpose to foster Transparent Trade Collaborations and Corporations. The yet to be official MoU between these two parties acutely hopes to address all socio economic and political issues affecting both countries with motive to positively impact their country’s economic growth. Turkey’s trade market is open for Basotho foreign investors, this proves that the Turks support shared approaches and promote global collaboration. This morning I had the pleasure of meeting Ambassador Rubens Barbosa and hearing him speak at an event hosted by the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of Florida. The discussion focused on Brazil-U.S. relations and opportunities for cross-border growth in business and investment going forward. One of the main takeaways was that the U.S.’s lack of focus on Brazil over the past several years has created a foreign investment void that China and other Asian countries are happy to fill. #BACCF #Brazil #Brasil #foreigninvestment

FIC Board Members will continue their commitment to promoting sustainable investments and policies as the basis for economic growth, especially in a tense budgetary context. Large companies continue to invest in Romania, the flow of foreign direct investment in the first quarter of 2024 is 3.2 billion euros (compared to 2.4 billion euros in January-April 2023) according to the latest published data by BNR, thus registering an increase of 800 million euros compared to the same period in 2023. In order to stimulate this positive trend, the private sector needs predictability, stability, clarity and transparency of the legislative framework, coherence of public policies, and alignment with international practices, all of these leading to the acceleration of the process of economic convergence of Romania with the developed countries of the EU. #FIC #Board #investments #economicgrowth
