Can you imagine a world where traditional philanthropy as we know it vanishes? At Rework, we're rewriting the script on grant-making by putting the focus where it truly belongs: on the incredible individuals and organizations doing the essential work to make this transformation a reality. In a recent discussion with our partner, Christina Garcia of Christina Garcia Consulting , she introduced a compelling vision for the future of philanthropy: one where communities aren't just passive recipients but active leaders. Community perspectives and knowledge would be central in funders’ decision-making, guiding philanthropic institutions on how best to support them. This concept isn't just a theory. The Right Relations Collective in Canada, is already putting this approach into practice, taking the lead role in determining what kind of support they receive and how it's utilized. For Christina, the future of philanthropy goes beyond financial transactions. It's about building genuine community partnerships and valuing their insights and leadership. Such a shift in perspective promises to rejuvenate the sector, leading to deeper collaborations and more impactful outcomes. In the coming weeks, stay tuned as we introduce you to some amazing contributors through beautiful artwork created by Fernando Mari. These partners play a vital role in making our mission a reality. In the meantime, visit our website to take a closer look at how we're reshaping philanthropy for the better. https://lnkd.in/eYYBu_DP

Trust-based philanthropy is a trend in foundation-giving that places value in lived experience and shifts the locus of grant spending control into the hands of the community organizations doing work on the ground. As a nonprofit whose mission centers the ideas of economic equity, the importance of place, and the need to share natural resource rents, there are real reasons to take note of the trust-based trend and incorporate relevant elements into our work.
