An athlete from each varsity sport ooh'ed and ahh'ed yesterday as they tested out equipment and joined us at the unveiling of the newly-renovated weight room at the Senior High. The weight room, which is used by athletes and students in strength and other physical education classes "nine out of eight periods a day, plus before and after school" had taken a beaten throughout the years and hadn't seen a renovation or upgrade in 20 years according to Mr. Frank Vecchio, SHS Assistant Principal and former Health and Physical Education teacher. When students return to school, they will have access to a variety of new strength and conditioning equipment, including free weights, weight cages and strength machines to help them get stronger in class or in competition. #goeagles 💙🦅

Four more weeks of school holidays to go! And every parent is just about hanging in there until school returns!😬 This is often the time during the school holidays where accidents 😳and injuries can happen where wary parents let their guards down and children 🤪are hyperactive trying to squeeze as much fun into the remaining weeks of school holidays! So if you are planning any Trampoline activities to keep your child occupied and busy for the next 4 weeks of holiday, My Favourite Physio 🤓would like to take the opportunity to remind you of some Trampoline Safety Rules. Rule 1: Only One Child 🧒 at Time on the Trampoline at All Times. Rule 2. Provide Adult Supervision at all times 👀 Rule 3. Never allow any gymnastic exercises or stunts, such as somersaults or flips on the trampoline.🙅♂️ Rule 4. Never allow your child 🧒 to play on a wet 💦trampoline. Follow these rules to keep your child safe when trampolining this school holidays. When these rules are not followed, accidents happen on the trampoline that often result in broken bones. 😳 #trampoline #trampolinesafety #schoolholidays #schoolholidayfun #myfavouritephysio #kidsphysio #paedsphysio #physio #earlyintervention #physiotherapy #bankstown

Sports physicals are examinations. Most schools, camps and organizations require a sports physical in order for your child to participate in sports or physical activities. Your child’s healthcare provider does a physical exam and takes a complete medical history. You can get a sports physical at your healthcare provider’s office, urgent care centers and even some drugstores. Sports physicals are very common, especially among kids and teenagers. In the United States, more than half of kids between age 6 and 17 play on a sports team or take sports lessons. Most schools, camps and organizations require proof of a sports physical. Many of them may require it prior to allowing your child to play sports and do certain activities. When shopping for back to school supplies, don't forget to check guidelines with your child's school district to see what the requirements are. #sportsphysicals #backtoschool #intheknow #sports #schoolsports #cricketstirlingandassociates #weloveinsurance #ShareThis

Sleep Athlete Performance /Recovery Coach -Director at CHSLI Sleep Services Sunbelt Conference NCAA Sleep Consultant 2023-2024
The preference for turf fields in high schools seems to mirror the preference for early school start times in high schools as in it’s more about convenience for schools and the adult school leadership - not the health and well-being of the student athletes These high school students are still in the midst of brain and skeletal growth. Let’s do better by them and review our choices to make sure convenience doesn’t trump sleep or physical health for our young athletes. It’s not enough to take soda machines out of schools and think we have done great things! Tackle sleep and physical health issues to protect these young athletes #startschoollater @StartSchoolL8r #wellness #turf #grass #lifecoaches #lifeafterhighschool #listentothescience #studentathlete #circadianhealthandperformance #circadianhealth #newsday Newsday Media Group #sports #high #school

#swingingintosaturdays Get Your Swing-ersize @PlayMartPlaygroundEquipment says swings are the new black! Science is proving the physical benefits of swing sets for kids and kids-at-heart, which is why commercial swing sets are making their way into gyms across the nation. The exercise of a swing set provides children and adults with more than just a fun outdoor activity, it helps them to develop their coordination and build important muscle groups. For example, kids must engage their core abdominal muscles to stay balanced, their leg muscles for momentum-building propulsion, and their arm muscles to firmly hold onto the rope or chain for support. While children too young for the traditional swing seat or children with special needs may be unable to pump their legs in the air, simply sitting down and holding onto the sides of any kind of swing still offers great muscle-strengthening advantages. Our Adaptive Swing Seats are perfect for kids with different abilities to get the physical benefits of the swing.
