Today is Memorial Day, so we would like to start the week with gratitude. There is sacrifice in service. We are grateful for the sacrifice of service members gone, and for the sacrifice of their loved ones who live with their loss. #HonorTheFallen #MemorialDay

Memorial Day is more than just a long weekend. It's a time for us to unite and honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. At The HR Xperts, we recognize the significance of this day and encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on its true meaning. Here are 5 meaningful ways to celebrate Memorial Day: 1. Attend a Memorial Service: Participate in a local ceremony to pay your respects to those who have served. It's a powerful way to connect with your community and remember our fallen heroes. 2. Visit a Military Cemetery: Take some time to visit a veterans' cemetery. Place flowers or flags on graves to show your gratitude and honor the memory of those who have given everything. 3. Support a Veteran Organization: Consider donating to or volunteering with organizations that support veterans and their families. Your contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of those who have served. 4. Educate Yourself and Others: Spend some time learning about the history of Memorial Day and the stories of the heroes it commemorates. Share this knowledge with friends and family to keep their memories alive. 5. Pause for the National Moment of Remembrance: At 3 p.m. local time, join the nation in silence to honor the fallen. This simple act of respect and unity can be a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for our freedom. Let's make this Memorial Day a time of reflection, respect, and gratitude. Together, we can honor the legacy of our heroes and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten. #MemorialDay #HonorOurHeroes #TheHRXperts #Gratitude #Community #Veterans #Remembrance Remember to engage with our post by sharing your tips and stories of how you honor Memorial Day. Together, we can spread awareness and pay tribute to those who have given everything for our country.

Pls share Pls listen An amazingly articulated podcast that will reshape you understanding of the complexities of bereavement in the Armed Forces and impact on every facet of life impacting the whole family including kids, education, housing, community, finance. Support by the PM, CO Mins, APPG, and OGDs for a review. Time for change. Welfare is NOT charity.
You are just a number. Is what members of the armed forces are told. It means that you are: ✅ Disposable ✅ Discarded once the government have done with you ✅ No longer of use to the country This can happen to serving personnel and veterans. Where does this leave spouses who are bereaved when the husband or wife dies in service? They are left in a grey zone of (generally)not having served. Except military families do serve it is in a different capacity. What can this mean for the families? ✅ Identity issues ✅ Purple Pack for moving on ✅ 3 -24 months to vacate a MOD property ✅ Extracted as efficiently as possible We are talking with Jilly Carrell her husband Nick died while in service. The aftercare and disjointed approach by the Army and other sectors leaves a lot to be desired. ✅ No proper aftercare ✅ No contact from her husband's former regiment ✅Relocating and battling to get a dentist ✅ Hour round trip to get the children to school Jilly has formed https://lnkd.in/e_kmEA87 to get groups and organisations with vested interest to sort this mess out. Why hasn't this happened after 80 + years of fighting in conflicts and peacekeeping missions across the globe? That dear listener and reader is the $64,000 question. How can you help? Get in contact with Jilly and her team at Beyond the Wire. We very much appreciate you taking the time to tell us your story and what you hope to achieve from the sad loss of your husband Nick. Thursday Thoughts: I am a couple of generations removed from the Greatest Generation who defeated Hitler and saved us all from his tyranny. But there a few ideals, common by necessity, during that era that I aim to personally and professionally hold myself accountable to. I can thank my father Reverend Frank Gray Sr (My first Pastor, Vietnam war veteran, honorably discharged from the USAF) for passing these along to me at a young age. Today, I’d like to focus on one: • Service Is Its Own Reward A culture can win or lose its humanity with the emphasis or de-empahsis of a prime cultural principle. Service Is Its Own Reward is one of those, in my humble estimation. In today’s world, dominated by a philosophy of fringe benefits and quid pro quo, this means we need to remphasize the value of self-sacrifice. We need to elevate the underfunded yet essential programs, the underpaid yet critical staff, the “routine” poverty-centric intervention strategies that are ever present in all of our planning cycles. Let’s remind ourselves why we choose to serve, and for whom our service is needed. Let’s develop opportunities to make the work more fulfilling so that service indeed, once again, becomes its own reward. Let’s celebrate our unsung and unseen heroes and heroines who live by this prime principle each day. Without them, non of our organizations would be in business. #charity #philanthropy #service #community

FIVE WAYS TO COMMEMORATE MEMORIAL DAY Memorial Day is viewed as the official beginning of summer, marked by picnics and BBQs with friends and family. But this holiday was established to set aside time to honor and remember those who died while serving in the U.S. military. In addition to picnics and BBQs, here are five great ways to commemorate Memorial Day this weekend. 1. Attend A Ceremony. Many towns have parades and ceremonies on Memorial Day. Some even conclude with a memorial service. Make time to take advantage of what your town offers. 2. Decorate with Flags. For many years, it has been a tradition to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flags on Memorial Day or fly our flag at half-staff from dawn until noon local time. If you have a flag pole, consider joining the tradition this year. 3. Thank A Veteran. While Memorial Day is a time for remembering and honoring our fallen soldiers, it’s also a wonderful time to thank soldiers past and present who are in our midst today. Thank them for their service. If you do not know a veteran or want to do more, write a letter to a veteran or soldier! Check out https://buff.ly/2DhxLZD for more information about writing letters or sending care packages to soldiers currently deployed. 4. Participate in our National Moment of Remembrance. To ensure Memorial Day is the sacred and noble holiday it is intended to be, the National Moment of Remembrance asks us to pause for 1 minute in national unity wherever we are at 3 PM local time on Memorial Day. 5. Buy A Poppy. During the days leading up to Memorial Day, members of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) accept donations for poppies. The poppy’s significance to Memorial Day derives from John McCrae’s poem, “In Flanders Fields.” Disabled and needy veterans in VA hospitals have been assembling Buddy Poppies since 1924. When you purchase a poppy, your donation assists in maintaining state and national rehabilitation and service programs for veterans. #EllenMorano #MemorialDay2024 #Honor #Remembrance #Veterans #FallenSoldiers #ThankYou
