8 Years ago today I stood on stage at the IAB Ad Operations Summit (rip!) to introduce a panel about AdOps in flux. My message still holds true: embrace change if you want to be a constant. "Wise folks say the only constant is change; and for me, the only thing constant about change is that it should be embraced whole heartedly and head-on, no matter how difficult. Win or lose, this is what will make you stand out; this is what will determine if you truly succeed in this industry. If you embrace operational change and make it part of your DNA, you too can be a constant, just like change."

Yet more twisted headlines about the CMO role being dead. In actual fact this is a story of the CMO role being upgraded to be more commercial and the CMO becoming the CEO. CMO's from PepsiCo TikTok and Moderna share how they believe agency partnerships can be improved. I sometimes forget the fairly unique and advantageous position we are in when speaking to brands as we get unfettered honest advice about what they are looking for from an agency (and equally what they are not). "Be an extension of our team" "Challenge us, push us" "Be a true business partner not just marketing partner, know my business, listen to our quarterly updates" All heard time and time again from brands when taking briefs. Its no surprise that the partnerships where agencies that do the above, and comparatively the brands that allow them to, are the ones that provide longer term, more fruitful partnerships that benefit both sides. #mutualsucess #brand #agency #partnerships
