It also shows a sign of poor character quality when people Are looked down on. Don’t look down on anyone unless you’re admiring their footwear

I have worked in Germany for the last 9 months and some Germans are extremely fluent in English but others are not. I enjoy the conversations with the Germans that are not fluent and they apologise. I reply don’t worry your English is a whole lot better than my German 😂😂 but between my poor German, their English and our friend Google translate we always get by. It does make you think though one common language would make it so much easier to travel 👍

Absolutely.. I agree with you. I am one of the testimonials for that. I am fluent and command in telugu my regional language, but not even 20% in English. Even I am doing well in my profession. But I face trouble when I want to try speaking while learning upskills online of different courses. Many times I try to talk in English but With Telugu flowing in my veins, no matter how hard I try, my mind thinks only in Telugu and I don't remember English words.. So I could not take advantage of many opportunities as I have been speaking broken English for the last 40 years.

I don’t mind this, however in a workplace it can isolate people when a worker can only speak English and everyone is talking in another language. Honestly it’s a thing you get used to or not. To me broken English is showing they are at least trying which should mean allot

My cousin knows 9 full languages, speaking reading and writing., he gets laughed at for speaking in broken English. I ask you, who is the smart one , the one that speaks 9 languages ? the one that only speaks English and yet their English is terrible? I envy those who perfected different languages, especially in all 3 phrases. I’m having difficulties understanding my own language 😆😆.

This is so true and I agree 100% but unfortunately, it happens. My parents were looked down on because of their language barrier. I take it personally when I coach and I make it my mission to Empower Sales Professionals with effective communication skills and confidence. I won't stop until I'm sure that they have reached the confidence level that they need to move forward in their jobs. It's very sad but it does happen I wish people could start thinking differently.

There's more to be said on that (meme). It's not "looking down" at all. When I was a kid, my mother who spoke two languages said that the one she learned from her parents has 25 words for each English word. 25 ways to express one English word. Years later I got into teaching ESL and realized that sure we can teach English to non-English speakers, and we can explain what the words mean, but can "never" replace one of their words for ours or visa versa, therefore there will always be a lack of understanding between two people. I used to call it spanglish, japlish, indlish, etc. It's supposed to end up being English in the ESL class but ends up being a mixture in the words and in the meanings. So, do we as a people really understand each other? I'd hazard to guess "no".

🙌🏻 THIS! Evidence shows that someone that knows more than two languages can easily pick up on learning more, even faster. Knowing more than one language openes circuits in your brain that unfortunately, mine aren’t blessed to fire in. That’s amazing to me. Anyone that thinks otherwise or down on anyone because of broken English, are just not my kind of people 🙌🏻 Ps. I wish I could say “I can’t place the right word in English” 🤣 but the truth is my brain is some times forgetful.

I've always looked up to people who can speak in multiple languages. No matter how basic it is. Great post.
