Organized by ETSI in cooperation with the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) and with the support of ETSI TC EMTEL and TC MSG, this face-to-face interoperability testing event will be hosted by the University of Malaga, Spain, from 30 September to 4 October 2024. The concept of "Next Generation 112" (NG112) has been identified as a potential answer to the increasing requirements and demands of content-rich emergency calling. The interoperability of such NG112 with NG eCall products and services has not been tested in Europe so far, leading to this ideal opportunity. #Starlink awarded #Mexico #rural #satellite contract - report. Starlink, the satellite #internet division of #SpaceX, has been awarded a contract by a Mexican federal agency to provide infrastructure for a rural internet project, according to documents seen by Reuters. The draft contract issued by the Mexican government's 'CFE Telecomunicaciones e Internet para Todos' (CFE TEIT) initiative runs until 31 December 2026 and is worth between MXN 887.5 million (USD 51 million) and MXN 1.8 billion (USD 101 million), said the report, without providing further details. The Mexican government set up the non-profit CFE Telecomunicaciones in 2019 using the wholesale fibre-optic network (Red Troncal) of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to meet president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's pledge to bring full internet coverage to all parts of the country. #telecom
