I recently stepped away from a comfortable corporate job that I loved! While I could have stayed and been in great hands, I gravitate towards challenges - sometimes to my detriment! I partnered with a co-founder and a team of exceptional engineers, and together we built IronPoint. IronPoint is a professional services firm specializing in infrastructure security within the Microsoft ecosystem. We assist large organizations in mastering complex technologies like Azure and Active Directory. Additionally, we collaborate with incident response firms, stepping in for long-term remediation post-breach. This new world was unfamiliar to me, so I spent time with several successful founders and recognized three primary characteristics in successful entrepreneurs: Curiosity: Is the foundation for taking the first step. You need to express a genuine desire for the unknown. These are the people who stuck their fingers into moving fans as kids. We explored, got hurt, and learned in the process. I once took apart our family washing machine after it broke and attempted to fix it. Twelve hours later, it was back together and still didn’t work. These are the types of lessons to embark on. We celebrate failure as it will inevitably lead to another success. Confidence: Is the healthy ability to navigate uncertainty and maintain a sense of calm. This is someone who is in tune with inner strength, understands the struggle, but trusts themselves to navigate the complexities. Confident people are contagious and a pleasure to be around. In an entrepreneurial setting, this is even more important as the highs and lows can swing frequently. Humility: There is nothing more damaging than someone who’s got it all figured out. I recognize that I'm good at my craft, but I am humbled to work around people with different perspectives. I learn something new every day and have deep gratitude for all experiences. I've found that successful people take themselves lightly. They make jokes at their own expense and hold doors for strangers. At the end of the day, we're all human and need to care for one another. ------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm excited about this new chapter and look forward to sharing the journey on LinkedIn. I'd love for you to join me along the way!
