‼️In May 2022, #russia simplified the procedure for obtaining #russian citizenship for children from #Ukraine. According to a presidential decree, the children's guardians or the heads of the institutions where they are placed can independently apply for russian citizenship for underage #Ukrainians. The children's wishes are not taken into account. ‼️OSCE sources in russia note that russians themselves are "actively interested" in placing children from Ukraine in #families. According to the organization, russian families who want to take care of a child from Ukraine must take special patriotic courses. There are also "financial incentives" for them at the expense of local and regional budgets. ‼️The priority option is to #adopt a child who has found himself or herself in russia without the care of relatives. These children can have their names, surnames, dates and places of birth changed, which makes it much more difficult to find them to #returnhome. As the war rages on, we are reminded that millions of #Ukrainians continue to be displaced across #Europe and beyond - and many remain unemployed as they strive to rebuild and restart. At the Tent Partnership for Refugees, we are committed as ever to accelerate their economic integration and grateful to the Tent member companies that have stepped up to join us in this effort. In Paris just two months ago at the historic Tent #EuropeanBizSummit, 40+ of these companies pledged to provide more than 250,000 Ukrainian and other #refugees in Europe with #jobs or #training. We recently marked a dark milestone in the war in Ukraine – ithas been 500 days since it started and the conflict continues to devastate lives.⁠ ⁠ Across Europe, people have helped children and their families fleeing the war, including many in the UK, and some Ukrainian refugee children are now living with kinship carers in the UK.⁠ ⁠ We know that the situation they face is often complex and the professionals we work with tell us that they are not always sure about how to best help or where to get the right information. To address this, @coram.uk, @familyrightsgroup and CFAB, with funding from @savethechildrenuk, came together to pool their specialist expertise. ⁠ ⁠ We have produced a comprehensive FAQ document to help professionals navigate the tricky interface between social care and immigration law.
