For the final session of the Digital Money Summit 2024, Douglas Arner of the The University of Hong Kong and Elliot Hentov of State Street Global Advisors are discussing de-coding de-dollarisation: Will new technologies shift global currency dynamics? It was a pleasure to join eurofi at Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I spoke in a panel on crypto where I emphasized the need for a fast transition towards MICA and the associated pitfalls in particular with respect to global CASPs. Beyond that, it is always useful to meet industry representatives and peers from all around Europe to discuss in an informal manner the regulatory agenda. As the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (#MiCAR) recently came into effect, understanding its impact on the burgeoning stablecoin market becomes essential. The Digital Euro Association (DEA) is proud to contribute to this critical dialogue. Our paper, "MiCAR's Influence on Stablecoins: Industry Insights and Implications," provides an analysis of MiCAR's potential to either attract or deter #stablecoin issuers to the EU, highlighting how the region’s market conditions are poised for substantial transformation.
