The new EU Strategic Agenda 2024-2029 is out. “The strategic agenda for 2024-2029 was adopted at the European Council meeting on 27 June 2024. In the face of a new geopolitical reality, the strategic agenda will help make Europe more sovereign and better equipped to deal with future challenges”

The #StratategicAgenda for the next institutional cycle was agreed by EU Leaders this week. An important focus on #competitiveness, achieving the #CapitalMarketsUnion and completing the #BankingUnion, all part of the #Eurogroup core work and priorities for the next months.

The new #StrategicAgenda for 2024-2029 is out! It provides the political direction the European member states want the European Union to take. A couple of interesting developments to take note of: 1. Much attention for defense and security to strengthen #Europe's role as a strategic global player. 2. Further economic growth by strengthening the #industry, technological development and the open market with special attention for capital investment. 3. Improving Europe's resilience, especially in in #energy, #finance, #telecommunications and security of supply, by reducing of harmful dependencies and building up capacity in key technologies. 4. Creation of a #stable and #predictable (policy) framework and environment in which manufacturing companies can scale-up the #technologies necessary for the #climate transition. 5. Improving the policies that are already there by focusing on a solid policy #implementation ensuring that no one is left behind and administrative #simplification to create a consumer friendly investment environment. The selected priorities seem right to be able to provide an answer to the major societal challenges of today as #multiglobalisation and #climate change. From a market perspective the focus for climate policy on stability and implementation is much welcome. An unstable policy framework is a nightmare for businesses looking to scale up to achieve the climate transition as well as for citizens investing. The degree to which #productivity growth can be realized remains a very important point of attention. Not an easy feat considering the ageing population, but ever so important considering the state of public #debt. Recalling the European Pillar of Social Rights, the EU and Member States will aim to strengthen social dialogue, uphold equal opportunities and reduce inequalities. Increasing participation in the labour market and promoting youth employment will be of key importance in the coming years." "Our destiny is in our hands.
