💼 Yesterday, the leaders of #EU Member States gathered in Brussels to vote on who would take on the Bloc's top institutional roles.
➡️ Ursula von der Leyen (Germany, EPP group) the incumbent President of the European Commission, has been nominated to serve a second term in office. Securing a second term will be subject to winning a majority vote in the European Parliament next month.
➡️ Antonio Costa (Portugal, S&D group), former prime minister of Portugal, was appointed as President of the European Council, the body gathering Heads of Member States to decide the strategic orientations of the EU.
➡️ Kaja Kallas (Estonia, Renew Europe group), current prime minister of Estonia, was appointed as High-Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs.
