Calling 501c3 nonprofits and public schools in Dane County! In my work at Free Bikes 4 Kidz, I've seen firsthand how important it is for kids to have bikes.
If you didn't have a bike as a child, you might perceive it as merely a toy. However, bikes offer much more: they provide low-cost, healthy transportation, benefit the environment, and can be a source of fun. Additionally, they contribute to social and emotional development.
It's also critically important to have a bike at a young age. If kids don't know how to ride by age 10-12, they're often too embarrassed to try and the window of opportunity has passed them by. In our car dominated society, their focus shifts to getting their first car although they are unaware of all the expenses associated with automobiles.
Today, the cost of owning a car is over $10,700 per year or $894 a month according to AAA. And that does not factor in the stress that comes along with being behind the wheel. Do yourself a favor, go for a bike ride. It'll make you feel good! ;)
Please feel free to share this call for partners with your networks.
If you work at a public school or a 501c3 charity serving marginalized communities, mark November 1 on your calendar! Our application cycle for bike recipients opens on November 1 and remains open until January 31, 2024.
If you've never applied before, this link can help you understand the process: https://lnkd.in/gk6N2bx
But it's probably best to schedule a call with the FB4K Executive Director, Kristie GoForth, to discuss the process as it does require some work getting recipients registered.

1moWe shouldn't underestimate the commitment to achieve this. Chris and the ESS Defence team raised funds to support the charity, Chris trained in advance and then committed 2 weeks to this experience. Great to hear the stories now you are safely back Chris Lamb MBE
