This should be a good one.
I didn't see a lot of retailers in the reactions so far. This is as important to them as it is to manufacturers. Ultimately though its a consumer issue as this sort of cost increase should always flow downstream as opposed to upstream. Small manufacturers took on so much of these kinds of fees in the last 15 years but weren't able to make most of it up on price increases. Then when the inflation of 2022 hit they tried to get even on it all. Now comes along the 2.0 version wrapped in "productivity." As an industry we must forge a better way.
This sounds enlightening! - Knowledge is power, said Francis Bacon. It's wonderful to explore how programs like UNFI SSA shape the landscape of wholesale and retail. 🚀🤔
This was a super illuminating and sobering interview. Thanks to you, Evan Driscoll and George Milton !

2moThis is a super solid episode. Interesting learning more about the nuances of supplier deductions in the distribution space, and what levers these distributors have for controlling margins, which are surprisingly limited.
