The Regional Forum is that time of the year when we bring the GS1 in Europe community together for a unique moment of sharing experiences and knowledge. This year the event was hosted by GS1 Association Greece, in Athens, where more than 600 participants joined us - in person and online – during our 4 plenary sessions, 32 workshops and many more sessions. In a round of quick interviews with our participants about the importance of this event, the answer was unanimous: it's a place where you can meet people from other GS1 Member Organisations, share best practices, debate relevant topics and, in short, create collective thinking. By promoting interaction between GS1 Member Organisations from more than 49 countries, GS1 in Europe plays an important role in building a unified future for the entire GS1 community. At the end of these four days of Regional Forum, our colleagues emerged richer, more inspired and with new contributions to take back to their GS1 Member Organisations. Four days of networking and knowledge sharing are coming to an end. I would like to extend my gratitude to the GS1 Global Office team for once again orchestrating this highly meaningful gathering for all of us Member Organizations (MOs) within the global GS1 community. Each time I return home from such events, I am enriched with new insights and fostered connections with GS1 affiliates, enriching my understanding and expanding my network. Within GS1, we try to become a part of the solution for enormous challenges, which can often feel daunting. From transitioning the world from 1D to 2D barcodes to championing initiatives aimed at fostering a sustainable planet for future generations, our endeavors are substantial. These include fx active participation in the development of digital product passports (DPP), positioning 2D barcodes as a solution when addressing food waste across multiple sectors, and establishing robust data systems for trusted data around packaging information to be exchanged worldwide. However, gathering from diverse corners of the globe to share our best practices and insights on overcoming these challenges instills a sense of optimism, hope, and renewed energy to continue on this meaningful journey together with all my GS1 colleagues around the world. #GS1GlobalForum2024

Patented innovation for flattening cans, plastic bottles and beverage cartons with a volume of 0.25 to 3 liters. Up to 70 % space saving, up to 70 % less collection transport for recycling.
PPWR & Green Deal: Did you know that from 2025, all deposit containers in reverse vending machines in Austria will (have to) be plated in the one-way deposit system? With my collection machines, it will also be possible to plate deposit containers at all small return points as soon as clear and forgery-proof recording is possible using a serialised 2D barcode on the deposit containers. It is also possible to use my collection machines in supermarkets as stand-by collection aids for invalid deposit containers in order to save space. The savings potential, especially when transporting the flattened deposit containers to the sorting systems, can be up to 70 %. The flattening of lightweight packaging will be state of the art from 2023 - see EP patent and US patent - https://lnkd.in/grjHnwgH https://lnkd.in/dvF5H2ae and soon my collection machines will also be produced in Slovakia! https://lnkd.in/dNRqavMn
