Excited about this ReFi project which aims to create real world assets from solar power and energy saving assets - key partners on the technology side include Siemens (smart home/solar), AgeVault (EV Charging). Greetings to the New Energy Economy! ⚡ I'm beyond thrilled to announce that I'll be joining the penomo team as a Business Developer! penomo is the platform for on-chain capital financing for renewable #RWAs powered by #Tokenization. Despite the global renewable energy market size expected to reach $2 trillion+ by 2030, there's a need for $4 trillion+ in capital financing to make this happen, hindered by many traditional bottlenecks. Scaling is a huge challenge - 50% of renewable projects SMEs in developing economies at risk of shutting down! Currently, renewable assets such as solar and storage batteries are illiquid and require massive capital, quickly. As Demetrios Papathanasiou from the Global Director of Energy and Extractives at The World Bank, says: "The poverty trap is becoming an energy trap that is becoming a climate trap." Traditional financing of renewable RWA has layers of intermediaries, making financing itself very costly, slow, and ineffective for developers and operators of assets and risking the energy transition. On the investor side, Web2 institutions financing these assets face long-term capital lock-up, regional limits, and costly due diligence & transactions. Retail investors and renewable asset consumers have no direct freeway to contribute and invest. The penomo platform provides a user-friendly means to Tokenize renewable energy RWAs into liquid, tradable digital assets and enables fully regulated capital access from retail to institutional investors directly.  This enables renewable project developers and operators to access new low-cost capital with speed unlike traditional financing and recover invested capital within weeks for reinvesting in new growth. Additionally, RWA-as-a-service providers get a new ability to turn their users into real stakeholders by asset token participation, increasing user retention and a stronger sense of community. It’s an honor to contribute to this mission, terraforming the world’s trillion-dollar energy landscape with the aim to incentivize investments, innovation, and production of clean energy sources. Interesting perspectives from Cleantech Group in their article Flexibility: Window is Closing for New Innovators My two cents: - Yes, this space is very hard. However, my view from the front line is that we're seeing a massive uptick in new entrants globally, in particular those that are taking a customer-centric approach to DER management. Whilst flexibility has been around for quite some time, I still think we are very early in the rollout of a decentralised, flexible electricity system (i.e. less than 1% of the potential has yet to be realised, perhaps 0.1%) - In a difficult space, building a two-sided marketplace is doubly complex - especially those that deal with both DER providers and System Operators (and by extension also energy regulators). Success in this space is very hard won, lots of patience is required initially, but then you need the ability to scale up very quickly when a market is ready. Timing is key here. We were early when launching Piclo Flex in 2018, but now we're well positioned globally as the world wakes up to the need for local flexibility markets. - Finally, after coming back from two weeks in the US. All I can say, is that its only a matter of time before the US takes UK's and Europe's lead in distributed flexibility. Perhaps unexpected, but what surprised me the most is the speed at which mentalities are changing - compared to when we first entered the US market 18 months ago. That said - we all collectively have so much to do to decarbonize the world's grids. Its quickly becoming apparent that this is becoming the biggest (literal) bottleneck to net zero.
