🛳️ LOOK - A BIG SHIP 🛳️ 🤭 Ok, ok so this post isn’t going to be about the big ship, although fun fact… this big ship is the now retired HMS Belfast docked at The Queen’s Walk near Tower Bridge, and is also a museum… very cool 🤭 💡On another note, I would like to share a little thought about a different type of ship… COMRADESHIP … why I am grateful for it and why everyone should have it💡 ⭐️ Today I travelled to London to meet with my esteemed resilience colleagues Jayne Romanczuk MBCI and James L. and what an absolute treat it was (I never say that lightly). In a few short hours together we were able to ideate, share challenges, find new opportunities and value create. Not bad by any stretch… ⭐️ 🛟 Arguably you could achieve most of these things with any colleague, after all, we are all here to achieve the same goals for our organisation. But it’s not just that… you need great comradeship to make the best of that value. Comrades are the people who you are 💯 certain would throw you the life raft when you need it the most - always there for you in the good times and the bad 🛟 🤩 And lucky me….because I have firm comrades in my colleagues. They always make my day brighter and make me a better version of myself both professionally and personally. 💥I can’t express the benefit I have gained from attending the Purple Story (The Home of Operational Excellence) programmes. 🔥Most of my senior management team have also attended some form of training from Purple Story and they all took away simple but effective leadership tools such as ETC, Iceberg model, Engagement ladder, how to better lead the new Generations coming through, what the Pyramid of Trust is and means, explains the benefits of the Window Screen model. 💜All of these leadership techniques are invaluable if you want your managers and leaders to grow and develop into the leaders to come! ⭐️Investing in my team has been the best investment I have made, which in turns improves the performance on my Holiday Park. 💜Most importantly this training helps to retain the best team members as they can see I am investing in them.

GreenSquareAccord has announced receiving 254 nominations for their Gold Star Awards, describing this as an impressive 42% increase over last year’s entries. However, this claim seems somewhat underwhelming, especially considering their workforce size and the upcoming expenditure for the awards ceremony. To put this in perspective, with an employee base ranging between 1,000 and 5,000, the 254 nominations represent only about 5.08% to 25.4% of their total staff. Last year’s nominations, calculated to be around 179, indicate a low participation rate. Moreover, it is important to note that these nominations are solely from staff members, with no input from customers or residents. This exclusion is disheartening, particularly considering the crucial role that customers and residents play in the organisation’s operations. Their feedback and recognition would provide a more comprehensive and authentic measure of performance and service quality. When considering the costs associated with organising and hosting an awards ceremony, including logistics, venue, awards, and lost productivity, one must question the efficiency and impact of this exercise. The expenditure seems extravagant and not necessarily reflective of broad recognition across the organisation. Given these figures and the lack of customer/resident involvement, it's crucial to consider whether the awards genuinely enhance morale and recognition or if they simply serve as a costly tradition with limited reach. In light of these numbers, the resources allocated to the Gold Star Awards might be better invested in more impactful employee and customer engagement initiatives, or better yet spent making the homes of their residents safe, warm and dry.
