Impact Assessments within the Health, Well-being and Life Sciences Sector
Kada’s recent evaluation of the University of Cambridge’s pioneering Innovation Centre for Molecular Digital Chemistry sits within our portfolio of evaluation work in the health, well-being and life sciences sector. Kada has now worked with MedCity, the South London Academic Health Science Network and UK Advanced Therapies on various programmes include three rounds of collaborative programmes ‘Collaborate to Innovate’ and ‘Confidence in Collaboration’ and a digital health accelerator. We also evaluated an accelerator at the Advanced Well-Being Research Centre for Sheffield Hallam University, completed an evaluation for NHS England of a digital health technology programme and, for South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, undertook a health and well-being assets study. Kada has led several med-tech cluster studies too.
The collaborative programmes have fostered partnerships between some of the UK’s leading life science researchers and SMEs at the forefront of digital and scientific advances and innovations in health, well-being and life sciences. As part of these projects the Kada team have spoken to a range of academics, entrepreneurs and SMEs whose work is assisting with world leading developments for the prevention and treatment of life limiting diseases and conditions including Parkinson’s, motor neuron disease, different forms of cancer and dementia.
Our work has involved telling the story behind the collaborations, reviewing the delivery of programmes and quantifying their actual and potential economic, health and wider benefits. For instance many projects have resulted in follow-on collaborations and/or secured subsequent commercial or research investment.
We have recently been awarded a new commission for a world leading university life science institution to evaluate collaborations between SMEs, researchers, and large pharmaceutical companies in their pursuit of life changing treatments.
