Using these output measurements, we can determine how many square feet of collectors we will need to heat a single gallon of water. Humidity Control Solutions: Exploring Hygrometer Applications in the Energy and Power Generation Sector

Per the recent North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) 2024 State of Reliability report, the grid is experiencing increased outages related to centralized generation sources. Coal is the primary culprit and hydro has also experienced increased outages in recent years. As reported in Power Engineering, "Despite no major events comparable to Winter Storms Uri (2021) or Elliott (2022), the weighted equivalent forced-outage rates (WEFOR) of baseload coal and cycled natural gas units remained high in 2023" This upward trend will likely continue as electrification, onshore/reshoring, and economic growth increasingly strain the grid. Inertia in power systems refers to the energy stored in large rotating generators and some industrial motors, which gives them the tendency to remain rotating. This stored energy can be particularly valuable when a large power plant fails, as it can temporarily make up for the power lost from the failed generator. This temporary response—which is typically available for a few seconds—allows the mechanical systems that control most power plants time to detect and respond to the failure. #energy #powersystems #powergeneration
