The Japan Soccer League Began(1965)
On 6 June 1965, the Japan Soccer League, the forerunner of the J-League, was launched.
In 1960, before the Tokyo Olympics, Dettmar Cramer was invited from West Germany to coach the Japanese national football team.

In May 1961, Cramer went to Shizuoka to watch the All-Japan Championship. Similar to high school baseball match, the format was for 16 teams that had won regional qualifying rounds to play a four-day tournament. He said to a jounalist: 'It's not something people do. It resulted in more injuries, and there is no hope for improvement in technique.
Although there were many in the Japan Kickball Association who disagreed with Cramer's practice and reforms, the team did achieve results at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics with a top eight performance, including a win over Argentina. Momentum grew for the creation of a league.
On 25 December of the same year, five industrial companies, including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Furukawa Electric, set up a preparatory committee for the establishment of the league. Three more companies, including Yanmar, joined the committee to form an eight-company league. Four matches were played in the opening round, including the Furukawa-Mitsubishi match, which was won by Toyo Kogyo(now Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C) that year.
