What is going on down in Georgia? MiMedx has been busy, and looking to get busier. They just announced a refi and greatly increased credit. - They secured $95M and paid off $50Million in debt with better terms. - So ~$45Million in additional credit on top of the ~$80Million in cash from their last earnings, I know they added more in Q4. Waaaay back in December they converted and increased available common shares allowing for further capital raising levers. That #Axiofill warning letter amplified no change to their (increased) guidance, they remain confident. Q4 earnings not for another month, #sawc another 2 or so months after that. They gave clear guidance about moving into adjacent markets and expanding beyond amniotic tissue. As corporate failures surge this year, debt investors are in a fight to salvage as much money as they can from the wreckage. The early skirmishes are going very badly. The bankruptcy of GenesisCare, a cancer treatment specialist backed by private equity powerhouse KKR & Co. and China Resources Pharmaceutical Group Ltd., is the latest cautionary tale of how much value is being destroyed when companies go bust now. In previous default cycles, leveraged-loan providers would expect to get 70% to 80% of their cash back from failing companies. Those days are over. Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, Pacific Equity Partners, QIC, and Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) Bid $500M+ for Cura Day Hospitals Group. Australia’s biggest private hospital operator, Ramsay Health Care, has also lobbed a first-round offer. Cura makes $40m a year at the earnings line and is slated to fetch a $500m-plus price tag for owner Frankfurt-listed healthcare giant Fresenius Medical Care. Cura was founded in 2008 by doctors and management, with private equity investor Archer Capital Pty Ltd as a shareholder. Cura owns day surgeries, eye surgeries and endoscopy units across the East Coast and in Perth, Tasmania and Adelaide. As this column reported, at least 20 parties took preliminary sale documents, attracted by its foothold in a fragmented industry and the lower operational costs incurred at day surgery businesses compared to hospital owners. #PEInsights #privateequity #acquisition #healthcare
