EFP are pleased to support youth charity, Triple Skillz Education on their launch. Where youth services and facilities have been impacted by cuts to local authority finances, TripleSkillz focuses on developing and inspiring young people in local communities through youth projects and mentoring to support better futures. TripleSkills is currently a local initiative in Leicester with ambitions for national expansion and we are pleased to have been able to support them on their launch night, 19th April. #BeCaring #Charity #YouthProjects

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) bee hives help increase honey yield by a staggering 30% by reducing the work required for bees to manage the hive temperature. EPS insulates bee hives to keep bees warm during winter to protect against heavy frosts and sub-zero temperatures. It also keeps them cool in the summer when overheating can become an issue for effective brood rearing. EPS hives are also extremely durable which means they won’t rot and there’s virtually no maintenance compared to traditional hive materials. #Bees #EPS #SustainableInnovation

Congratulations to Jan Paxman for 25 years with the business. Jan started back in 1999 as part of the customer services team before taking on additional responsibility within the Accounts Department to help with Payroll and Accounts Payable. With the business changing hands over the years, Jan worked full time in the plant, as part of the administration team, before being offered a full-time position in Finance where she has stayed for the last 18 years. Jan commented, “the years have flown by and I can honestly say that I do enjoy my work and have made some really good friends here in Northampton and across all plants”. Colleagues in Northampton gathered to congratulate and thank Jan on her 25 years’ service, gifting her with a cake and beautiful bouquet of flowers. Thank you for your 25 years’ service with the business Jan!

Congratulations to Andrew Foster on 20 years’ service at EFP Spennymoor. Andrew (pictured right with Carl Beasley, Warehouse and Logistics Manager left) is an integral part of the Warehouse team having started with us back in May 2004. Andrew commented, "20 years has gone pretty fast! I bounced around at the start of my time with the business, initially working a role in production as a Packers Inspector, then into the QA Team as a Quality Technician. I found my true home in the Warehouse around 15 years ago and never looked back. Moving from Warehouse Operative and then up to Chargehand on the night shift in 2018. People have come and gone but I have made some good friendships over my time, I really enjoy my job and I’m happy here." #EmployeeAppreciation #OurPeople #TeamEFP

Excited to see HOTBIN Composting, part of EFP, on television at the weekend with esteemed gardeners Alan Titchmarsh and Henry Agg. Coinciding with International Compost Awareness Week, the show featured an important segment on different composting options and the basics of composting to encourage people to start recycling more waste into peat-free compost at home. Our featured model on the show, the HOTBIN 200, is a hot composting bin that utilises the insulating properties of expanded polypropylene to reach temperatures of 40-60°c producing compost in as little as 30-90 days. Unlike traditional cold composting systems, the HOTBIN can process a wider amount of waste including cooked food, small bones and even perennial weeds making it the composter of choice for many households. #HOTBIN #Composting #ICAW2024 #PeatFree

External wall insulation manufactured from expanded polystyrene (EPS) dramatically increases the thermal performance of domestic low-rise housing applications. EWI is a cost-effective solution that can be applied with almost any render or cladding system to produce a full EWI system for use on new builds or retrofit solution to existing ones. With a lambda value of 0.030 W/m2k, EPS is not just thermally efficient but also lightweight, durable and both rot-proof and water-resistant. The long life span of the material guarantees EPS as an effective insulator for the life of the construction application. #Construction #Insulation #EPS #EWI

Weight and mass reduction is an extremely important factor for the evolving aerospace industry where the development of weight-saving cabin seating components instantly translates to improved economy and fuel consumption. Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) is used in the manufacture of lightweight componentry in aerospace for seating and void fill applications. Using EPP as a material to replace older and heavier parts such as seating components can save kilos and even tonnes when spread over an entire aircraft without compromising on performance or comfort. #SustainableInnovation #Aerospace #EPP #SustainableMaterials

HOTBIN Composting, part of EFP, are delighted to donate a HOTBIN Mega to the Therapy Garden at Craig-Y-Nos run by Annabelle Padwick, founder of Life at No.27, a not-for-profit organisation that supports children and adults who are struggling with their mental health through gardening therapy. Annabelle, a professional gardener and wellbeing practitioner, is focused on putting gardening at the forefront of mental health care in the UK. Her journey started in 2015 with an online blog, Life at No. 27, which documented her allotment journey with her ‘number 27’ allotment site. Having faced her own mental health struggles, Annabelle found solace in gardening and created a new vision for Life at No.27 which would create an allotment-based support network that would help people struggling with their mental health and would be easily accessible through self-referral, GPs, Psychiatrists and local councils. Kate Meadowcroft and Cheryl Wakley, on behalf of HOTBIN Composting, helped set up the new HOTBIN Mega composter whilst providing an induction to the on-site therapy and café team on how to get the most from the compost bin. Annabelle, said: “Such an exciting day for Life at No.27 and myself today! We welcomed Kate and Cheryl from HOTBIN Composting to our Craig-Y-Nos Therapy Garden, who delivered us the dream HOTBIN Mega 700l composter. I'm so excited to start using it, help our client gardeners learn how to use it and see them reap the rewards of having super nutritious compost for their food growing. Due to the incredible skill behind the HOTBIN design, the cafe onsite will be teaming up with us in composting now too, so all their food waste will be mixed in with our paper waste and plant materials. Can't wait to have a full circle setup with produce being grown, going into the cafe and any waste going back into the garden as garden gold!” The link between gardening and mental health is well documented. EFP are pleased to support an important initiative in such beautiful surroundings and hope that the new HOTBIN Mega kit will provide much composting assistance for both the Therapy Garden and on-site café. #HOTBINComposting #MentalHealth #Gardening #Charity #BeCaring
