🌟 Proud Pop Alert! 🌟 #1 son (brilliant, by the way) was one of the headline speakers at an electrical engineering conference at the University of Minnesota last week. Josh's expertise is something out of my league, but his ability to captivate a packed audience was a thing of art. You should have seen how he brilliantly summarized all of the intricate technical details of this 35-minute talk into a simple, scalable takeaway, ingeniously framing it around the familiar tune of "Old McDonald." Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. “For the simplicity on this side of complexity, I wouldn't give you a fig. But for the simplicity on the other side of complexity, for that, I would give you anything I have.” Brilliant job, son! 🚀👏 #ProudParent #ElectricalEngineering #Innovation #UniversityOfMinnesota #leadership #higheredleadership

The #Oppenheimer story has many lessons to teach. In a piece for The Wall Street Journal, Ben Cohen rightly highlights J. Robert Oppenheimer's managerial qualitites. In his view, the following four characteristics in particular make up good #leadership for #innovation: (1) Full focus on recruiting and retaining the best #talent (2) Broad knowledge, #interdisciplinary breadth, personal appreciation of different perspectives, and #supercommunicator skills ("speak in plain English") (3) Puts #collaboration over hierarchy (4) Personal self-control and serious self-#determination to become a leader And, after all, yes: fun and balance shouldn't be neglected either 😅🏀🎭🥂 https://lnkd.in/dNWSFrTY

A such intellectually honest and stimulating DOSE that the world and esp. this free country needed at this critical moment from #LarrySummers! #US_Economy: Still far away from a #soft_landing! #Self_esteem should come from #achievements, not the opposite #HighEducation: - Time to stop #legacy_admissions - Great universities should expand their admission scale with new technology, instead they chose to stay as a super luxury brand. #AcademicFreedom should be absolute! - All ideas can be put forward, no ideas gains its authority from who said it - Academic freedom not mean freedom from criticism, freedom from open debate, freedom from challenges - #CancelCulture does not belong to an open-society #LawEnforcement: The most important job by cops is not the capturing of bad guys which is for sure important, but the societal members will restrain themselves from committing crimes because they know cops will come after them if they did bad things.
All-In Summit: In conversation with Larry Summers
