Can you charge an EV when the power is out? (Or how about pumping gas?) This question is especially relevant for those affected by Hurricane Beryl, like the people of Houston, TX, where parts of the city were without power. Gas pumps require electricity (as do EV chargers) for their pumps to work! So when the power is out, both are down. That’s why it’s so impressive that Buc-ee’s had backup power generation to stay fully operational -- pumping gas and charging EVs!
