Promoting the Recruitment Executive Degree Programme with National College of Ireland and highlighting the available SOLAS (An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna) grant for employers is a great initiative to attract potential apprentices. Additionally, suggesting upskilling opportunities for current employees not only enhances the skills and knowledge of your workforce but also fosters loyalty and retention. Having 42 employers already participating in the ERF/NCI Apprenticeship speaks volumes about the programme’s effectiveness and credibility. Sharing testimonials or success stories from these employers can further encourage others to join the initiative. "Apprenticeships are boosting the UK's access to highly valuable skills but so much more can be done and the traditional approach to these training courses needs a rethink that is more appropriate in the modern world of work." APSCo is calling for an overhaul of apprenticeships, paving the way for a brighter future in the world of recruitment. Here are our recommendations to the government: ➡️ Unifying Standards: APSCo suggests a single Level 3 standard for recruitment apprenticeships, ensuring consistency and excellence. ➡️Flexibility Rules: APSCo advocates for more flexibility in apprenticeship standards to cater to individual learning paths. ➡️Fair Assessments: We are pushing for fairer assessment methods, making the journey to becoming a recruiter smoother and more inclusive. ➡️Inclusivity Matters: APSCo calls for inclusivity in the apprenticeship standard, recognising the vital role played by in-house professionals in the recruitment sector. ➡️Levy Reformation: APSCo urges a revamp of the Apprenticeship Levy to align with skill needs, ensuring accessibility for contractors, "lane-changers," and older workers. Our new report with The St Martin's Group is out! 📑 In it, we explore what #apprenticeship success looks like to employers, finding that 99% of employers recognise the benefits of offering apprenticeships but face barriers in supporting completion. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eExitRqz The report builds on previous research exploring the apprentice perspective of completion and outcomes. This looked at the experiences and destinations of apprentices who complete their programme vs those who do not. ⤵ 👉 https://lnkd.in/e53GCgzk Our new research finds that almost all employers view completion as important. Those surveyed told us that apprentices who complete are more likely to: 💡 Gain more industry knowledge ✅ Be more productive 🛠️ Have better technical and soft skills 99% of employers say they offer support to apprentices, but the nature of this support varies. Employers offering time off the job and pastoral support report higher completion rates. 📈 The top barriers employers face in supporting apprentices are: ⏰ Arranging time off the job for training, study or assignments 🤝 Relationships with providers 👥 Staff capacity 💷 Paying apprentices competitive rates 📢 The report calls for greater employer support from the sector, with a series of recommendations that include helping more employers provide time off the job and pastoral support. Qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic | Apprentice Pathways Lead at Kinetic | Victorian VET Champion | Finalist for EWIT Exceptional Human Skills Award 2024 | 2024 EWIT Champion Award Recipient
It was great to contribute to the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations Strategic Review of the Australian Apprenticeship Incentive System yesterday at the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry office. I provided my insight as a woman in trade, previous apprentice, and on behalf of my employer Kinetic, who currently employs over forty apprentices nationally – a number that is growing. There was consensus in the room regarding many of the obstacles and challenges faced by industries, and the need for targeted solutions to combat the current skill shortage. There are many organisations taking the lead on creating these solutions. Understanding where policy and incentives can leverage or support these organisations and efforts is critical to creating the desired outcome we all work towards - more people entering and succeeding within VET and trade pathways. Through my role at Kinetic, we are developing a national apprentice program to set up our apprentices for success within their apprenticeship, the industry, and their long-term careers. But this alone is not enough to combat the skill shortage. We need to collaborate across businesses and industries to improve the current landscape for all people. If you’d like to contribute your insight and experience to this important review, please check out more information about the Terms of Reference and submission process here: https://lnkd.in/gEvsHcrr Reviewers: Justice Iain Ross AO & Lisa Paul AO PSM #australianapprentices #apprentices #apprenticeship #traineeship #apprenticeincentives #apprenticeprogram #futureworkforce #skillshortage #vetpathways #womenintrade #tradepathways #australianapprenticeincentivesystem

On the 28th of October this year, the Apprenticeship Employment Network of Victoria will celebrate the 40th anniversary of group training in Australia. The group training model was created in the early 1980s in difficult economic times. The unpredictable economic circumstances and fluctuating nature of certain industries made it difficult for small businesses to commit to taking on an apprentice for the four years a qualification takes. But businesses knew that without a pipeline of apprentices, there would be a shortage of skilled workers when economic conditions improved. To solve for this problem, the group training model created a collective training arrangement, where the group became the employer of the apprentice, responsible for placing them with host employers. The group also took care of the administrative burden of the apprenticeship, co-ordinating paperwork and in-classroom learning with TAFE or private providers. Because young people often need support adapting to the expectations of the workplace, mentoring is a key component of the group training model. The strength of the model has long been clear. This year, AEN Victoria is celebrating a quarter of a million successful apprenticeships. The model is also helping apprentices from disadvantaged backgrounds realise their dreams of entering a trade. If you would like to register for the 40 Year Celebration please go to https://lnkd.in/epcqExyg #apprenticeships #skills4all #realjobs #realcareers #careersforlife
