💔 The decision to move a loved one to assisted living can weigh heavy on our hearts, but what if we could navigate this journey with understanding and less guilt? 1️⃣ Reframing the Decision: Instead of seeing the transition as a loss, view it as a step towards safety, better health, and increased social opportunities. Your choice is rooted in love and care. 💡 2️⃣ Social Proof and Normalization: You're not alone in this. By connecting with others who've walked this path, we learn that this challenging decision is made by countless caring families every day. 🌍💬 3️⃣ Open Communication: Talk openly, both with your elderly loved one and with others. Sharing feelings, concerns, and benefits paves the way for mutual respect and understanding. 🗣️💞 Let's embrace these steps to foster compassion and clarity in our decisions. ....and that will lead to better outcomes for everyone: elderly residents, their families and, yes, the staff as well! 🌈 #NavigatingCare #FamilyDecisions #AssistedLivingChoices"

National Public Health Week-Day 1 "Civic Engagement" Today is the first day of National Public Health Week which is crucial week as it raises awareness about public health issues and encourages individuals to take action to improve the health of their communities. Each day is a different topic, and today's topic is "Civic Engagement". Civic engagement plays a vital role in Public Health by empowering citizens to advocate for policies and initiatives that promote public health, such as access to healthcare, clean air and water, healthy food options, and disease prevention measures. Together, they foster a culture of wellness and social responsibility, ultimately leading to healthier and more resilient societies. Local civic engagement allows residents to voice their concerns and influence local policies and decision-making processes. This can lead to the implementation of initiatives that address community needs, such as improving infrastructure, enhancing public safety measures, and promoting environmental sustainability. By working together, community members can identify innovative approaches to tackle issues like homelessness, education disparities, and economic inequality Overall, civil engagement at the local level is essential for building resilient, inclusive, and thriving communities where every voice is heard and valued. #nationalpublichealthweek #publichealth #civilengagement #blackmeninpublichealth #community #advocacy

It's sunny in Texas and that's perfect for National Walking Day! Today is a great opportunity to engage family, friends, and neighbors in a walk around the neighborhood or area park. Connecting with others and being active are key components of a healthy life. However, we know that many Texans just don't have the same opportunities to get out and be active. From missing sidewalks to unsafe parks, non-medical factors can have a direct impact on a person's health and well-being. That's why Episcopal Health Foundation supports solutions than promote equity and address non-medical drivers of health across the state. Part of that work includes helping community organizations push for policy improvements at all levels. Seemingly simple changes like the addition of sidewalks and safer pedestrian areas can make a considerable difference in daily physical activity levels and community health. So, as we walk today -- we're continuing our efforts to improve #HealthNotJustHealthCare in Texas! Fit Houston #Walk30 #HOUwalk

Person-centred values = values that help put the interests of the individual at the centre of everything you do, giving them control of all choices and decisions made about their lives. In health and social care, person-centred values include: individuality, choice, independence, dignity, respect, rights, privacy and partnership. The key features of person-centred planning are: 1️⃣ The belief that the individual is best placed to decide on their support needs 2️⃣ The care plan is owned by the individual and is written in the first person 3️⃣ The individual has as much control as possible over their choices 4️⃣ The care plan is ‘needs’ led rather than ‘service’ led Read our recent blog post to find out more about the principles of person-centred care and their importance in delivering quality care: ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/erDcHAyx #personcentredcare #personcentredvalues #socialcare #qualitycare
