Great to be discussing the future of work with Chris Fechner, Mandy Young and Toby Walsh at the Tech in Gov Expo this week. My view: there has never been a more exciting time to be a digital, data or tech professional in government. Not just because of the exponential advancements in the capabilities of AI that could unlock significant improvements in productivity and outcomes, but also the substantial opportunity that remains for improvement to public services through technologies of all types and end to end redesign that puts our customers at the centre. Watch this space for work we’re leading in CDDO in both these areas led by the brilliant David Knott and Bonnie Wang, including how we can harness AI more effectively across HMG and an update on our top 75 service transformation that is embedding brilliant practice to improve the usability and efficiency of UK government’s highest volume, highest impact services. #artificialintelligence #governmenttransformation #digitaltransformation #generativeai

Introducing the world premiere of Sarah Dickenson's The Commotion Time, produced by Exeter Northcott! 📜 Local history takes centre stage in this landmark drama, featuring an ensemble of local performers alongside professional actors. 🎭 February 1547. When the authorities introduce reforms set to drive division into the heart of the community, the people take action in the only way left to them; marching to Exeter to challenge the king and finally be heard. As well as being Exeter Northcott’s welcome return to home-produced drama, The Commotion Time will also be the first production directed for the theatre by our new Creative Director, Martin Berry. Created in association with Poundstock Gildhouse. Find out more 👀 https://lnkd.in/ewSGm34i

This (post ⬇️) shines a light on a really important aspect of the work of theatres…over 600 people came to Colwyn Bay today to watch the pantomime. The economic multiplier impacts (generated by theatre audiences, casts and technical teams) are huge. According to a SOLT / UK Theatre report in October: A recent study conducted on behalf of SOLT & UK Theatre suggests that the UK theatre sector generates £2.39bn GVA and supports 205,000 workers. This is made up of £1bn of direct turnover in the UK theatre sector, generating £1.3bn worth of turnover in the broader economy. #theatre

A full house at Theatr Colwyn today for Mother Goose, produced by Colwyn Bay’s very own Magic Light Productions. A brilliant show full of local references and humour, incredible costumes and - of course - the exceptional surroundings of the oldest working Theatre in Wales. Behind me there are more than 300 full seats, 300 pairs of feet coming to Colwyn Bay on a Saturday afternoon. So many towns have lost these assets over the last few decades. Times have never been tougher but it’s so important to remember the unique value this theatre brings both to the economy of The Bay and its distinctive identity. You can quite literally feel the magic of the place.

Did You Know? Before its transformation into the Empire Arts Center, it was first called the New Grand. The New Grand stood as the first theatre in Grand Forks designed specifically for showing motion pictures. Currently, the Empire is the city's last surviving downtown movie house!
