When you tire of London, you tire of life…And judging from the mood of the room at the Chapman Barrigan lecture last night, no one will be tiring of London any time soon! rosemary feenan gave the keynote speech - and it was one that unlocked the story of London, past, present and future. Her speech was entitled 'Outside - In - an investor perspective' and Rosemary shared investor perspectives on London. True to form, she did her homework. It was an exceptionally engaging talk and she even managed to squeeze in some London Calling 🎵 🎸 which must have been a first in the hallowed halls of Goldman Sachs For London to remain the global powerhouse that it is, we are going to need a lot of Cs from the government: 🔭 Clarity 💚Consistency 🤝 Collaboration 💬 Communication Then we were treated to a panel discussion with many of the female leaders driving London’s success on the global market. Joanne McNamara Kat Hanna Liz Peace Marit van Rheenen Samantha McClary….London calling indeed! “Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." — Samuel Johnson, September 20th 1777

#MondayMusings What is the most satisfying thing about following the growth journey of a younger friend? ****** I knew Low Jian Hao, CFA, CAIA, CA when he was in HSBC some years back. I witnessed his development and then prowess in everything alts for private wealth as he hit multiple growth milestones through his chapter in UBS and now in his emergent leadership role at MS PWM. Listening to him describe how the investor audience is evolving, how almost every alts house wants to come to town, the eventual rise in competition - shows his pulse on the alts market beat. But there’s more. He applies an intuitive analysis that reflects his thoughtful approach to understanding business. A strength that will benefit his colleagues, bosses and clients as they get a positional sense of where commercial dynamics lay. And as he does this, he is building rapport with the industry allowing him a wide network for ever growing market intelligence and strengthening the many elements of his stakeholder spectrum. All because he has method to it. #Discipline + #Consistency = #PeakPerformance ****** In marketing, we speak the language of L.O.V.E. = Let Our Viewers Enjoy. Jian Hao posts on alts appear in both English and Chinese. Reaching native Chinese speakers is brilliant. Pure L.O.V.E. ****** Join me in encouraging an encore of his works. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 For more reflections and insights on being effective at work and life, follow me on LinkedIn: https://lnkd.in/g5KBsW9s

Yesterday, was quite a reflective day for me as I attended IR Magazine's Annual Think Tank at Bank of America's offices in London. 14 years ago I was responsible for the organization and content of this event, so it was great to see it in full swing so many years on with a superb audience of brilliant IROs and guest speakers. So much has happened in the last 14 years, but what's interesting is that the same big topics remain at the forefront - navigating uncertainty, the impact of investor relations and getting/staying on the buy-side's radar. Whatever your company's circumstances, the key is to stay on the front foot, be consistent & proactive in your outreach and messaging. #investorrelations #strategiccommunications

One of our Panel Members, Tim Burroughs, and our Founder and CEO, Audette Exel AO, have spent the week in New York, meeting with leaders in the financial services sector. Among them was Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of J.P. Morgan and Chase Co, following the release of his annual letter. In their meeting, he emphasised the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement – looking after not only your company but also customers, employees and communities. They then met with Larry Fink, Chairman and CEO of BlackRock, as he spoke about the power of purpose in today’s global economy. These conversations reflect the principles at the core of our business-for-purpose model. Has purpose at last become central to business thinking?

Global Head of Sustainable Finance Barclays CIB | driving capital to the new technologies and companies that help support decarbonisation and sustainable growth
The UK has the potential to be a global incubator for #climatetech - generating jobs and powering growth. Discussions with clients at the #UK’s Global Investment Summit with the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reinforces the investment opportunity around decarbonisation and energy transition. I’m looking forward to continuing these conversations at #cop28
Barclays senior leaders join Prime Minister at #GIS23 to celebrate UK’s world-renowned innovation and creativity. Barclays is proud to sponsor the UK's Global Investment Summit – where senior leaders from Barclays met with 200 of the world’s leading CEOs and UK Government members to discuss the UK’s growth and investment opportunities. Attracting and rewarding global investment can be a powerful driver of prosperity - for businesses, clients, and the UK economy as a whole. However, our latest ‘Unlocking Growth’ report shows that investment is not evenly spread across the UK and there is untapped potential for further investment, growth and innovation in our regions. There’s no better window on the global economy than the property sector, and no better place to get a read on that sector than the Citi Global Property CEO Conference here in Miami. I’ve hugely enjoyed moderating panels (such as one below with Thomas Veith from PwC) and listening to our many fascinating guests. Our analysts, economists and credit strategists took an in-depth look at the risks of falling commercial property values, and our conclusion is that while CRE delinquency rates will likely rise over the next several years, the likely level of losses accrued is broadly inline with a normal cyclical downturn, and well below what we saw during the Global Financial Crisis. It’s an assessment that differs markedly from some recent media headlines, whose characterisations of the situation have been much more dire. https://lnkd.in/egtxZAXS https://lnkd.in/em-PSCyw
I had an incredible experience participating in the Citi 2024 Global Property CEO Conference in Miami, alongside Tim Bodner. Our panel, moderated by Lucy Baldwin and Nick Joseph, discussed navigating the real estate sector's transition. We shared our experiences on the major transformation processes, including: - capital flows: more private capital, HNWI and investments by corporate occupiers as well as the big push for investment in the AsiaPac region. - sector developments: strong convergence of real estate and infrastructure into real assets, alongside outlooks for the "classics" RE asset types - value creation opportunities: trends towards scaling through M&A, improved operational efficiency through AI/GenAI and ESG as drivers of success - the influence of regulation and upcoming elections: the influence of the US elections on the markets, but also the increasing regulation of the financial and housing markets The conference provided valuable insights into global trends of the capital market-oriented real estate industry. We also had the opportunity to network with C-level and share our insights. Many thanks to Citi and Tim Bodner for making this possible. Looking forward to next year! #pwcrealestate #pwcrealassets #thankyou #citi
