Pleased to be the lead author on a paper about blockchain interoperability that was published today, featuring contributions from Citi, Deutsche Bank, Mastercard, Northern Trust and Centrifuge. The paper is based on a framework laid out by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and produced by Axelar Network and Metrika. The paper is more technical than my usual writing, so here is the main idea. We're hearing a lot about financial institutions embracing digital assets. This should be good for mainstream adoption, but there are challenges as well. Blockchains are supposed to represent a single source of truth and to simplify overly complex processes. But as more financial institutions enter the digital asset space, we are likely to see further proliferation of different blockchains, which threatens to create fragmentation. The question is: How can financial institutions embrace digital assets without sacrificing the decentralization and efficiency that blockchain technology is supposed to bring? One solution is blockchain interoperability. https://lnkd.in/ew3biSzc
