🔬🧪U of I = University of Innovation 🧪🔬 Researchers around the globe are using a new AI system to revolutionize the pharmaceutical industry. Drug discovery and development traditionally take over half a decade, but now have the possibility to take a fraction of the time by using ‘self-driving labs’. These labs design, synthesize, test, and analyze molecules all on their own, with a new algorithm continuously receiving data from multiple labs’ experiments conducted around the world to determine the most promising molecules to create and analyze next. Already researchers have found 21 molecules with better stimulated emission than the previous state-of-the-art labs. Martim Burke, who is the University of Illinois May and Ving Lee Professor for Chemical Innovation, the head of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s participating lab, and a serial entrepreneur, declared, “We’re at the dawn of the molecular industrial revolution because modularisation on the molecular scale is going to give us all the same advantages that drove the industrial revolution on the macroscale.” #IllinoisVentures #IlliniAngels #UIUC
