Did you know the dairy industry is heavily subsidized by the government because of high demand? If we collectively demand to end this practice, the government will take action. The dairy industry is incredibly cruel, forcibly impregnating cows repeatedly to keep milk production going. Let's stand together for a kinder world. #EndDairyCruelty #PlantBased #Vegan #government #governmentofindia #people #demand #dairymilk #DairyIndustry

During National Dairy Month - and all year long! - we recognize dairy producers' ongoing commitment to sustainability. For Greg Bethard, General Manager, CEO and CFO of High Plains Ponderosa Dairy in Kansas, this means having an infinite mindset about taking care of cows, people, the environment and the community for the long term. “Sustainability means that every decision we make revolves around being around for the next 20, 30, 40, 50 years.” Learn more about High Plains Ponderosa Dairy's commitment to sustainability in this National Milk Producers Federation feature: https://lnkd.in/g2DQVMnG #dairy #sustainability #dairymonth #nationaldairymonth #UndeniablyDairy

CEO @ The Freedom Food Alliance 🔹 Environmentalist 🔹 Leading the Fight for Food Transparency 🔹 Food Security & Food System Change 🔹 Cofounder & Board Member of Plant Based News.
🔥 For over 8 years, I have publicly advocated for diet change, especially the effect of a more plant-based food system on reducing greenhouse gas emissions; this issue has become especially relevant after another COP fiasco and the continued greenwashing by industry bodies. Here are five reasons why there seems to be a deadlock in the conversation around diet change and climate: ☎️ 1. Economic and Political Factors: Many governments have deep economic ties with the meat and dairy industries. These industries contribute significantly to national economies and can wield considerable political power. Advocating for a drastic shift in diet can be politically sensitive, as it is perceived as threatening to these industries and the jobs they support. This is where the most significant amount of change is needed. (Plant Based Treaty) 🤟 2. Cultural and Social Norms: Dietary choices are deeply rooted in cultural and social practices. Changing these ingrained habits can be challenging. Governments often hesitate to advocate for changes perceived as infringing upon personal choices or cultural traditions. This requires more plant-focused political leaders to drive the conversation and inspire governments to support the drastic reduction of meat and, importantly, a more vocal and effectively coordinated global advocacy community. *Unlike the UK gov. 🫣 3. Lack of Public Awareness: While awareness is growing, a significant portion of the population needs to be made aware of the environmental impact of their dietary choices. Governments must prioritize diet change for climate change, in schools, universities, and public spaces. Significant culture change takes time, courage, & leadership. 🌨️ 4. Complexity of Climate Solutions: Climate change is a multifaceted issue, and while diet is a crucial aspect, it is one among many. Governments seem to be focused on areas like renewable energy, fossil fuel reduction, & industrial emissions, viewing these as more direct or immediate ways to combat climate change even though widespread adoption of plant-forward diets could dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 🌳 5. Food Security Concerns: In some regions, where food security is an issue, the focus is on ensuring access to sufficient food rather than the environmental impact of those food choices. However, this means that powers in the global north must focus on providing the necessary incentives for consumers to switch to alternative proteins, such as removing meat subsidies, making animal-based protein products much less affordable, and providing subsidies to more climate-friendly foods. Advocacy & education play a crucial role here. As public awareness grows and more research highlights the benefits of plant-based diets, governments MUST be pressured to act. Let's build an international alliance for honest consumer food awareness. Pledge your support 👉 https://lnkd.in/es8eDRAq #cop28 #climate #climatesolutions #methane #dubai #dietchange

Stephen Arthur, Chair of the Irish Farmers Association Dairy Committee, joined us for the May #MilkPriceMonthly. He highlighted the crucial role of sustainable succession in Irish dairying. With the average age of dairy farmers around 59-60, the sector urgently needs to attract the younger generation. A more sustainable future starts with ensuring economic sustainability for farmers! At Concept Dairy™ 🚀, we believe that #sustainability requires financial and economic security for farmers. Farmers can't go green if they're in the red! This is especially true for young farmers lacking the financial reserves to withstand volatility. At Concept Dairy™ 🚀, we are passionate about transforming the dairy supply chain and creating an equitable and transparent market for all: #dairyfarmers, processors and dairy buyers. Watch the full episode for FREE on Agri Insider:👉 https://lnkd.in/emwvEPDy Make sure to join us next Monday 10th June, for the June Milk Price Monthly for more dairy market insights 🙌 #Dairy #Farmers #AgriBusiness

Today, I am leading an exciting panel debate at the GDP Nourish Conference in Chicago with industry leaders. Dairy has been innovating for years to meet consumer needs and make dairy more relevant globally. We must focus on sustainable on-farm practices to fulfill our 2030 and 2050 commitments and align with the growing consumer interest in responsible production. Dairy plays a vital role in a sustainable food system, providing food security and livelihoods to over 1 billion people. To continue this role, we're committed to transitioning to more sustainable dairy production. We will only be able to continue our growth if we at the same time improve the health of our planet. In Arla, we call this ‘Good Growth’, which has been our guiding star for almost 10 years. Looking forward to some exciting discussions on how we can collectively drive this transformation for a healthier planet and a thriving dairy industry. 🌍🥛 Paul Lofgren DeLaval CEO Wayne McNee AgriZero Executive Director Colin South ArkenBio CEO Hayden Montgomery Global Methane Hub Agricultural Program Director #EnjoyDairy #PathwaysToDairyNetZero
