The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. In 1918, this marked the end of WWI after Germany signed the Armistice Agreement to bring the war to an end. 11 November 1918 came to be known as Armistice Day. President Eisenhower signed legislation changing the recognition of the day to a Federal Holiday known as Veteran’s Day. I, Robert C. Fenstermaker, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me, God. I first took this oath on 8 July 1981. It has never expired. As many are concerned about the weakening of the foundations of this country, one thing remains true. The men and women who have served this country understand the significance of duty, honor, and country. Significance is leaving your mark in this world. The bedrock foundations the men and women who have served understand carry throughout life. This country is far from perfect, but the ideals of duty, honor, and country are something all can live. You did not need to wear the uniform to understand the foundation of these words. When you live each day with intention, you create a life of significance. Those who have served understand the significance of those who came before them. It is a legacy of courage, discipline, and bravery. Each of us can appreciate those attributes and live them out each day. Be Bold! #strategy #innovation #creativity #business #kingdombuilder

Check out this fun fact about our team member, Matt Bristol! 💡 Most of you know Matt served in the military, but did you know that while living in the former Soviet Union, he at one point braved the bone-chilling cold at -40°C? If you do the math, that equals COLD in fahrenheit. 😂 That sure makes a crisp fall morning seem like a summer day! ❄️ Learn more about Matt: https://loom.ly/MqC11QQ #EricaBaezLaw #RVA #familylaw #mediation #mediator #familylawattorney

On this Veterans Day, I wanted to share my gratitude and thoughts those fellow Americans serving to keep us all safe. I never served in the military myself, which I now deeply regret. My grandfathers and their brothers all fought in either the First World War or the Second World War. We should always be grateful for the sacrifices they made. Their service has led to the longest period of peace we have enjoyed. Today, we have military personnel stationed in hundreds of places around the world in hot zones and potential flashpoints, putting their lives at risk to keep the peace and act as a deterrent. The job they do day in and day out, the risks they take on our behalf so that we and our families may enjoy safety and peace, should be valued as the highest form of public service. I'm not particularly eager to get political on my posts. Still, in this context, I will say that one Senator's holding up 100's military promotions to make a political point unrelated to the military, must stop. Senator Tuberville is putting our national security and preparedness at risk at the very point we face massive national security issues in the Ukraine, in the Middle East, and with China. But just as importantly, the Senator's actions are causing extensive and unnecessary personal hardships for military families. On this Veteran's day, we should look for ways to make military families' lives easier not harder. Senator: find another way to make your political points and stop using military families as pawns.

The word ‘service’ has many meanings, but the underlying intent of all definitions is ‘caretaking.’ Today the Legal Sales & Service Organization sends its deep, heartfelt gratitude to all those who have held our nation’s collective care in their hands by safeguarding America's freedom. 👉 Do you know the history of Veterans Day, which became a federal holiday by law in 1938? "World War I – known at the time as The Great War – officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of 'the war to end all wars.' Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good." 👇 Link in the Comments to learn more... #veterans #veteransday2023

Intelligence & Homeland Security Professional | Afghanistan Veteran | Passionate About Helping Communities and Organizations Mitigate Threats And Thrive
#AmericanCrisis | In my nearly 19 years of military service, I have never seen American #Veterans throw this oath in each other's faces as I have these past three years. Elevating ourselves and attacking others was not the intent the Continental Congress had in mind when they approved the original oaths for the Continental Army in 1775-1776. 2024 will test us Americans in many ways. It will test our civility and our ability to defeat fear with hope. It will test whether we see our fellow citizens, many whom we disagree with, as deserving of an equal voice. Perhaps the ultimate test will be of whether we see ourselves as a unified republic with a shared vision or simply a collection of squabbling tribes, rife with self-interest. In addition to past grievances and legitimate differences of opinion among this nation's citizens, our geopolitical adversaries seek advantage and know exactly how to trigger and encourage our baser natures against each other. The wolves are circling, and many of us are ignoring the danger they pose. We have convinced ourselves that WE are the enemy, much to our adversaries' delight. Veterans on one side of the spectrum were at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021, believing that they were acting in the spirit of the original American revolutionaries. Veterans on the other side have advocated for extra-legal measures to deal with "extremists" in response. Both believed they were honoring the same oath. Both were and are wrong. If there is a single community in this nation that could be the solid, immovable bedrock from which a restoration of this nation could grow, it is the U.S. Military veteran community. The division I spoke of at the beginning undercuts that potential. I'm not saying Veterans are better than anyone else, but we have bled for this nation. We have bled for each other. The Oath is what binds us together across every race, color, religion, national origin, and sexual orientation. We are what America was always supposed to be. Where do we go from here? I have some thoughts, but this is meant to be a conversation. What are your thoughts? ************** REFERENCE: (1) "Oaths of Enlistment and Oaths of Office", US Army Center of Military History, https://lnkd.in/gE9B2htt.
