🌟 Considering Your Career Path: Does Company Size Matter? 🌟 According to a recent article in the Harvard Business Review, the size of a company can greatly impact career choices. From startups to large corporations, each size offers unique opportunities and challenges. Small organizations provide hands-on learning and direct influence, while medium-sized companies offer growth opportunities and structure. Large corporations offer extensive resources and diverse career paths, but may come with bureaucracy. It's important for professionals to understand these dynamics as they navigate their career paths. Reflecting on personal preferences and goals can help individuals find the perfect organizational fit. Making a well-informed decision ensures a fulfilling professional journey. In recapping Session 2 of our Navigating Your Career series with a panel discussion featuring Brian Hanshew Shannon Bell Angela Wickes shenalla johnson, and Moaz E.. These industry leaders shared their unique career journeys across Operations, Sales, Engineering, Business Intelligence, and Leadership, providing insight into how they positioned themselves for success. The session was moderated by Jason Smith, PMP and as we reflect on the discussion, I wanted to share three key takeaways: 1. Growth within your current role and organization is a crucial building block for career development. By building and expanding your skills within an organization you're already familiar with, you can build new skills which allows you to increase your marketability when seeking new opportunities across your organization. 2. Transferrable skills are a valuable asset for career development. It's important to build and understand how to apply them across different functions and roles. By incorporating them into your career development plan, you can increase your versatility and adaptability within the job market. 3. Building relationships and networking is essential for career success. Make friends before you need them and always strive to give more than you receive. By adding value to others, you can create meaningful relationships that may benefit you throughout your career. Thank you to our panelists and attendees for making this event a success! What are some key takeaways you've learned while navigating your career? #careerdevelopment #networking #professionalgrowth

As the Harvard Business Review explains in their article about the importance of relationship-building for career advancement, I would like to share my two cents on how to start building relationships for newcomers. Embarking on a new journey, especially in #entrylevel positions and/or #remoteroles, often brings a mix of excitement and uncertainty. The initial steps within a new company or team can feel overwhelming, particularly when it's your first professional endeavour. However, I've discovered a few strategies that have significantly helped me feel more integrated and connected: - Cross-departmental networking: Don't hesitate to reach out to colleagues from different departments. Invite them for a casual chat to explore what they do. This not only broadens your understanding of the company but also provides a platform for sharing passions and projects. Who doesn't like to talk about their interest? - Leverage team introductions: Ask your manager or team members to introduce you to others within the organization. As a newcomer, showing eagerness to learn and connect demonstrates your initiative and helps in building supportive relationships. - Utilize LinkedIn for networking: After any call or meeting, take a moment to connect on LinkedIn. Start building your professional network early on. Embrace the opportunity to support and uplift each other in this community, where connections are just a click away. - It's never too late: Whether you're just starting or looking to refresh your career, it's never too late to begin networking and fostering meaningful connections. These tips have been invaluable in helping me navigate new beginnings and foster a sense of belonging. #relationshipbuilding #workplaceculture #LinkedIn #networkingtips #careerdevelopment https://lnkd.in/es7jPHCS
