🌟We are excited to announce Sarah Mendelssohn (LLP) as one of our newest additions to the Ellie Team!🌟 Sarah is a clinical health psychologist working with individuals ages 8+ and couples. She fosters a non-judgmental, authentic therapy environment where sessions are conversational, client-centered, and often involve humor. Sarah is available Thursday through Saturday and uses evidenced-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to best support clients’ personal goals. Her clinical interests include anxiety, social anxiety, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and OCD. She has additional training in suicidal ideation and crisis intervention, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, and psychological assessments. We want you to be your truest, MOST authentic self-- and therapy can help you get there. ⭐️ Ellies across the whole country are celebrating this month by attending Pride events, walking in parades, serving on committees, and joining festivals to support their local LGBTQIA+ community. 🏳️🌈 We know that celebrating with rainbow graphics 🌈 and giveaway swag alone isn't enough! We are educating our clinicians and communities about the importance of caring for the unique mental health needs of the queer community. But WHY does this matter? We know the statistics: 60% of LGBTQ+ youth who wanted mental health care in the past year were not able to get it and nearly half of LGBTQ+ youth seriously consider suicide. When we say "SPMIs," we are talking about mental illnesses that are recurrent, long-lasting, and make it hard for you to do your everyday life. Examples include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe depression. These diagnoses are more common than you realize, AND there are numerous treatment options including medications, psychotherapy, and self-management strategies (like developing healthy routines, optimizing sleep, recognizing triggers, and learning coping skills).
