Think of an API as a middleman between your app and other services or data sources. Just like a waiter takes your order in a restaurant and delivers it to the kitchen, an API receives your request from the app and fetches the information you need from another source. Here's how it works in our food delivery app example: •You order a pizza through the app. •The app uses an API to send your order details to the restaurant's system. •The restaurant receives the order through the API. •The chef prepares your pizza based on your order. •The app receives confirmation from the restaurant (again, through the API) that your order is on the way. What are some other examples of APIs in action? Social media apps: Use APIs to connect to your address book or photos for easy sharing. Introducing my new Food Ordering App! The app is nearing completion and here’s a brief overview of how it works: 1. Admin Functions: - Add or delete food items directly to Firebase. 2. User Experience: - View a comprehensive food menu, including popular items. - Utilize search functionality to find specific dishes. - View detailed descriptions, ingredients, and prices for each item. - Add desired items to the cart and proceed to the checkout. - Track recent purchases and receive notifications for order status. 3. Order Process: - Once an order is placed, the admin receives a notification. - The admin can accept and dispatch the order, notifying the user of the status. - The user can track their order, including delivery details, under the "Dispatched Items" section.
