Hi Connections, Yesterday we had a Catch up session with our CEO at FieldAssist Paramdeep Singh A.. It was an enlightening discussion, and I would like to share with you all as I believe these points can help us all grow both personally and professionally: 1. Understanding the Self : - Realize that you are not just your thoughts; you are more than what your mind tells you. - Consider life as a movie and choose how to respond to situations. Avoid taking things personally. 2. C>F Formula: Curiosity > Fear : - We've been conditioned to act based on fears, but we should recondition our minds to act out of curiosity and wonder. 3. Adopting a Beginner's Mindset : - Embrace the mindset of a beginner; always ask, "Do I know enough?" Learn and decide based on your personal experiences. 4. One day at a time : - Take life one day at a time; focus on the present and make the most of each day. 5. Strategic Decision-Making : - Consider the macro industry, the problem you're solving, and the people you're solving it with when making decisions. 6. Customer Care and Mindset : - Care for the customer; understand their needs and solve their problems. 7. Team Effort : - Acknowledge that your success is intertwined with the success of your team. 8. Going Beyond Expectations : - Go the extra mile in every task and challenge yourself to exceed what is expected of you. At the end of the day, you might bring success to your organisation. You might achieve some career goals. You might be proud of those achievements. But regardless of your background, how you overcame adversity, CEO, Exec, or cleaner, success is not if your organisation is ranked No.1. It’s not if you’re exec of the year. Or employee of the week. It’s how you treat people.

Summary of “The First 90 Days” – Step 5: Negotiate Success Avoid losing hands by proactively engaging the boss for resources required to win; and clarifying what constitutes winning. The boss has a significant impact on eventual success or failure. What to avoid in building relationship - Don’t trash the past: Focus on current behaviors, results, and necessary changes. - Don’t stay away: They should know what’s going on or gaps arise in expectations and context. - Don’t surprise them: A good rule of thumb is that things should never go from green to red. Share when things are yellow.  - Don’t only share problems: Bring a rough outline of how to address the problems, and help needed. - Don’t go through checklists: Make conversations productive. - Don’t change the boss: Adapt to their style. What to do in building a relationship - Take 100% responsibility for making relationship work. - Clarify mutual expectations early and often - Negotiate timelines to diagnose and plan: Avoid getting caught up in fire-fighting. - Make early wins in areas important to the boss: Builds credibility - Pursue good relationships with others The Five Conversations To Hold Early These are not one-time conversations. They should evolve over the 90 days. 1) Situation Diagnosis: Is there agreement on the situation. Does support match the situation. 2) Expectations: What constitutes success in the short/medium term. How is performance measured? Match expectations to situation. Understand needed early wins. Identify “untouchable” sensitivities. Educate and clarify. 3) Style: How to best interact. Seek to understand their Values, Assumptions, Beliefs, and Expectations. What box can be operated in independently; what requires their consultation; what requires their decision. Address difficult issues and don’t let things fester. 4) Resources: What is needed to execute. What is lost if resources shrink. What is gained if resources increase. What’s needed to play the game. What’s needed to change the game. Link resources to results. Look for mutually beneficial exchanges. 5) Personal development: Where is improvement needed. What are strengths. What can help growth. Use these tips to help on-board people to your team as well.

I met a guy... As a natural introvert, it took decades for me to be proactive with networking. I knew the importance and did my best to adapt/grow. Lots of getting way outside my comfort zone. 40 years into my professional career, it's still unnatural and a struggle, but I have overcome - fear and imposter syndrome, I am now speaking out, using my voice, expressing my points of view. I'm getting exposure and meeting lots of interesting people. The growth has been rewarding, fulfilling, and exciting, both professionally and personally. I spent 3 days at a coaching event last week. I scheduled appointments outside of scheduled events. I had great meetings with four individuals who align well with my business. Others who will help me personally. One of the speakers will become our pricing consultant. I chased him down at the lunch break - by pure coincidence, he has 9 years experience in claims tech. The Lyft driver who took me to the airport is building his video marketing business. I'm vetting him as a consultant to help me establish a better presence within the claims space. 10 years ago, I wouldn't have engaged with any of these folks. Now, my network is expanding in ways I could not imagine. Personal growth is essential - your business growth is bound only by your willingness to grow yourself, with intention. Who did you meet today?

I might get a few unfollows for this. But I'm going to say it anyway... A lot of people who say things like: - 'Their success is just luck' - 'It's because they have X, Y and Z' - 'They didn't earn it themselves.' Are making excuses. Some people start the race further ahead than others. It's sh*t and unfair. But their privilege is not a reason for YOU not to start. - Blaming others - Wallowing in self-pity - Discrediting others ... isn't serving you. It only holds you further back. Put your head down.  Manifest your goals. Work like a champ. You can change your life within 3 months. Ask yourself: Is it external factors that are stopping you? “Don't try to be like somebody else. You'll be miserable. You need to be yourself, and don't ever get a big head.” I spent yesterday afternoon at Citi Field, hanging out with my friend Mr. Met. It’s refreshing to be around someone with a bigger head than mine, literally! Did you know that trusting yourself can be impacted by the people that you are around? The issue with validation presents when you can no longer trust yourself, your opinions, and the decisions you make. As a business owner, I have needed much validation from my priority people. These people help guide me along my path as I believe who I surround myself with will determine my success. HOWEVER, if I only rely on my priority people and need their approval, they would most likely boot me to the door because they don't have time for that. Why is this? Because they understand that if all my decisions have to start and end with them, I will end up in an endless loop of self-doubt and constant reliance on their gifts, not mine. The key is finding what you value most and always considering yourself as part of the equation. Trusting and respecting yourself can occur in tandem with the concern of how others think/feel. Considering alternate views while still understanding what is best for you is essential to success and growth. It allows you to gain confidence and deeper self-determination to do the hard things and become the best version of you possible while still being around people that stretch you. #workwise #validation
