On Saturday we were at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire for the #HarwellOpenDay! 🛰 🎇 💎 We had an amazing time seeing everyone who visited our booth and participated in our synthetic diamond-based experiments and trivia. These events are a great chance to engage with our local communities, raising awareness of #STEM subjects amongst the younger generation! 🔎 To find out more about us, visit: www.e6.com #Innovation #ElementSix #HarwellCampus #LocalCommunities #STEMSubjects

More than hundred Life Science companies in Uppsala and the newly examined students can hardly name one of them. How come? This question was raised at the LIFE Uppsala 2023 meeting hosted by STUNS Life science #LIFE2023 #lifescience #lifexcience #uppsala It is a key question to be able to recruit talents to our companies. Erik Allard has an heroic idea, we should inspire kids already in school! But what can we do about it now? Are you a newly (or soon) examined student? How would you like to learn about Uppsala Life Science community?

TRI is excited to be a key part of the Boggo Road Innovation Precinct. Our shareholding partners are The University of Queensland, QUT (Queensland University of Technology), Queensland Health and Mater Research. We are home to the recently established Translational Science Hub and its partners, including Sanofi; and adjacent to Thermo Fisher Scientific. And we will have Australia's first scale-up biomedical manufacturing facility for early-phase start up biotech companies to test and develop their products, when Translational Manufacturing@TRI (MR@TRI) opens in late 2025. What an ecosystem for driving research excellence, collaboration and commercialisation.
The Boggo Road Innovation Precinct is the heart of South East Queensland’s existing knowledge corridor, an ecosystem of scientists, clinicians, academics, entrepreneurs, and industry. The Brisbane precinct has globally recognised medical and scientific research institutions and a reputation for achieving commercial outcomes. Queensland thrives off collaboration and the key precinct partners that are making huge leaps include the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Ecosciences Precinct, Translational Research Institute Australia, Sanofi, Queensland Government Departments— Queensland Health, Department of Environment and Science, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (Queensland), The University of Queensland, CSIRO, Griffith University, QUT (Queensland University of Technology) and Queensland Investment Corporation. The Boggo Road Innovation Precinct is set to become a place of many more success stories, where we will celebrate and commercialise the work of people who will change the world. 📷 Image from TRI #BiomedPrecinct #Biomedical #QueenslandBiomed #BiomedLeaders #QueenslandCollaboration

Congratulations to the four projects receiving a total of DKK 3.3 million in the latest round of education and awareness grants! The four projects are very different, but they are all destined to make a difference: Teach First Danmark is a nonprofit recruitment program that recruits academics to become certified schoolteachers to teach mainly STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) subjects in schools that are struggling to recruit subject expert teachers. Eksemskolen Kalaallit Nunaat in Greenland works to increase the quality of diagnosis and treatment of atopic eczema and help to improve conditions for people living with the skin disease, by educating health staff and families with children suffering from the eczema. Biotech Academy receives funding for the 2023 Biotech Academy Camp - an inspiring science camp for 30 high school students, who, in a combination of theory and lab work, will be focusing on plastic pollution and how to fight it using biotechnology. Re:solve Global Health will work to increase awareness about the global burden of skin disease and disease-related stigma using their global journalistic communication focused on how to build equitable health systems. 📣 Launch of the Horizon Europe Fairville project! We are pleased to announce our participation in the European project FAIRVILLE, a Research and Innovation Action funded by the EU programme Horizon Europe and coordinated by CNRS LAVUE (France). 📝 The project Fairville (Facing Inequalities and Democratic Challenges through Co-production in Cities) aims to address embedded urban inequalities and the challenges they pose to democracy in large cities and urban regions. It will do so by intervening in neighbourhoods that face socio-spatial, economic, and environmental injustices. Working across 8 Fairville Labs - in Greece, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Senegal, Egypt, UK, and France - the project will assess the potential of deep co-production of research, data collection, knowledge production and action research, in redefining planning policy, service delivery and local democratic pacts. The idea that urban, social and environmental policies should not be made “for” populations but rather “with” them is a potentially profound engine of social transformation and empowerment and it’s at the core of our research and action. The kick-off meeting took place in Nanterre (France) at the end of February and allowed us to define with our partners the next steps you will hear from soon. 💻 For now, we invite you to visit the brand-new website of the Fairville project -where you can also subscribe to our newsletter- and follow us on social media: https://lnkd.in/dVjiZ4yN, https://lnkd.in/dKTJHzXB, https://lnkd.in/dw-q2VUs, Fairville-eu https://lnkd.in/dcvvxRQQ. 👏 Many thanks to all our partners: Centre national de la recherche scientifique, Aix-Marseille University, Knowledge & Innovation, Etats Généraux de l'Eau à Bruxelles, The Bartlett Development Planning Unit UCL, Just Space, Université libre de Bruxelles, Frontal, University of Regensburg, UrbaSen, North South Consultants Exchange, Centreville Pourtous, Association APPUII, ICLEI World Secretariat, Ixelles Municipality, Attica Region, Université Paris 8, and the Advisory Board (Fatima Idrissi, Jakub Galuszka, Julien Talpin, Mona Fawaz, Catherine Baron).
