"The Baby out with the Bath Water" Fallacy: Part 2 🥖 🍷 Who has experienced situations where an employee is hired and brought on primarily to serve the best intrests of an organization and both the employee, team, and leadership have internal clash, drama, and tribalism? How often are outstanding and valuable ideas missed or lost in relation to this error so commonly made by us all? Why is it so easy for us to undermine, express indifference, and hold contempt in one another by nature? In a peaceful society or even in terms of "peaceful protest," the "vote" is one's right or ability to disagree, object, or have an opinion that differs while being protected in freely expressing such (of course within reason or civility) without fear, duress or coercion. This principle is enumerated and enshrined as the first protection in the US Bill of Rights. This is what grants freedom of speech, religion, and expression to be realized and protected to and for the people. Though we as people are not perfect by any means, this ideal is what promotes the best outcome for civility and liberty within a group, society, or culture. When we recall the sacrifices of veterans, saints, fallen heros, victims, and the innocent, this ought to be what we learn or grow to understand, respect, honor, or by the least, acknowledge in others as ourselves. We need to be mindful of falling into the "Baby out with the Bath Water" fallacy in order to enrich, on a micro scale interpersonal relationships at home and in the office; to win/earn uncorced and respected consensus in any form of negotiation or transaction, our local community and state involvement on a meso scale, and even to the ballot box on a macro. Try to "pay it forward." Invest in others or engagements intently. It is important to be courteous, offering the same opportunity, time, and respect that you would appreciate in others doing inherently for yourself. This is how we properly value patients, clients, friends, and significant others while delivering the most optimal care or support in any given situation. This is what separates true and effective leaders from bosses. This will further enable the organization to deliver the highest degree of health care and customer service while naturally growing continual service improvement. Do not drain out the baby (the value in a person) with the water, do not allow your ears to be filled with the bath water, and do not make the mistake of "Neglecting or abandoning the canary in the cole mine" nor trap it there yourself in apathy or arrogance simply because you don't settle well with it's tune, disagreement or failing to allot the resources to repair miscommunication.

Often men are overlooked and are the silent partner when it comes to miscarriage and pregnancy loss. Women and those with uteruses absolutely should get the support they need. #LogicalFallacy Series 4 of 25 🚫🤯 Watch out for the fallacy fallacy! Just because an argument contains a fallacy, it doesn't mean its conclusion is necessarily false. Remember how I said an appeal to emotion isn't always a fallacy? We're back to discuss the fallacy that if a fallacy is present in an perspective that that invalidates the perspective. This is often applied by critics of the Neurodiversity Movement. Examples include: 1. Dismissing the entire Neurodiversity Movement because there are frequent appeals to emotion by advocates for neurodiversity, ignoring that these appeals are because we want equity, acceptance, and inclusion. 2. Claims that because an advocate or certain subgroups resorted to name called (ad hominem fallacy) that this invalidates the Neurodiversity Movement. This ignores that individuals may be under stress and make mistakes. Furthermore, the mentalism of dismissing simply because one does not understand the experience leads to further fallacious reasoning. Behavior analytic research clearly has demonstrated that those consistently exposed to punishing conditions replicate said conditions and are more likely to engage in aggression, including verbal aggression. This is not to say that we should justify circular logic (a.k.a. fallacies), but it is to say that one should be careful not to fall prey to the fallacy fallacy.

Whoa! 1,300 cats have been added to our official database! https://lnkd.in/eQxZdGcu 1) we’re seeing some statistically significant differences in personality between cats of different colors. Some of those differences confirm conventional wisdom about cat colors and some do not. In order to avoid biased responding, we’re going to wait to reveal these cat color differences until the conclusion of the study.  However, you’ve come here for information, so let’s cut to the chase! 2) Average Big 5 Ratings: From those 846 cats, we know the average for their “Big 5” personality traits. (These are traits that have been long established in human personality research.) Conscientiousness: 5.09 Agreeableness: 5.20 Neuroticism: 4.61 Openness: 4.68 Extraversion: 4.58 What does this mean? To calculate these scores, we use one of the standard tools of the trade: the TIPI. (Ten Item Personality Inventory.) It asks takers to rate themselves (or their cat, in this case) in ten different areas on a scale of 1-7. There are pairs of questions that each correspond to a different Big 5 trait. Those pairs are added and then divided by two to get the average. Thus, each category has a high of 7 and a low of 1. A higher number means the subject shows that trait to a greater degree. 3) Cats (mostly) mellow with age: There are many (many) conclusions we hope to be able to glean from our results, but one intriguing first pass shows that just as with humans, cats’ personalities shift with age*. And exactly with the same trends: younger adult cats are higher in extraversion and neuroticism (emotional instability) and these two traits lessen with age. Also, cats (like humans) show a trend toward becoming more agreeable as they get older. Like a good wine, as they say. 4) We've established a cat personality Facebook Community to share information on cat personality: “Catroverts United" specifically for discussing this vein of research. By definition an experience of loss is anything that is related to the destruction or reduction of an aspect of our lives, material or immaterial, large or small, external or internal, and perceived or real that it may be. A threatening event like a biopsy for a breast lump that is found to be benign, for instance, despite being a perceived threat, can cause loss because it undermines our sense of security, predictability and sense of control in life.  The concept of loss may also extend beyond what one has lost now, to include what one never had and now never will have (e.g. for example, the loss of a parent with whom one has had an unsatisfactory relationship, or the loss of childhood through abuse).  READ MORE:

An Open Letter to All Fathers Dear Fathers, I am writing to you today from a place of deep personal experience and a sincere desire to see you live long, healthy, and fulfilling lives. My name is Dr. Tro Kalayjian, and I am not just a physician; I am a father who has walked the painful path that many of you are on right now. Once, I weighed 350 pounds and struggled with diabetes. I was a father in pain, a husband whose wife worried constantly about my premature death. I was lost in a sea of metabolic disease, feeling helpless and desperate for change. But I found a way out, and so can you. We live in a world where men die more than a decade before women on average. We are more likely to suffer from alcohol and drug abuse, more prone to mental health issues, more likely to be incarcerated, and tragically, more likely to commit suicide. This is not just a statistic; it is a stark reality that we must confront. Yet, instead of being supported, men are often labeled toxic or misogynistic, rather than being championed and celebrated for their strengths and potential. It is time for us to change this narrative. It is time for us to take our health into our own hands and fight back against the system that has failed us. When I was at my heaviest, I knew something had to change. My family deserved better, and so did I. I started with the basics: lowering my intake of processed carbs and sugars, and incorporating regular exercise into my routine. It wasn’t easy, but the results were life-changing. I lost over 150 pounds, reversed my diabetes, and found a new lease on life. My journey wasn’t just about losing weight; it was about reclaiming my health, my energy, and my happiness. As fathers, we have a responsibility not just to ourselves, but to our families. Our children look up to us; they need us to be strong, healthy, and present. Our wives need us to be partners, not patients. By taking control of our metabolic health, we can break the cycle of disease and set a positive example for the next generation. I challenge all fathers out there to take their health seriously. Start by lowering your intake of processed carbs and sugars. These substances are not just empty calories; they are poison that is slowly killing you. Begin exercising regularly, and find a community of positive and supportive people to join you on your journey. Whether it's CrossFit, jiu-jitsu, or any other group activity, surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals can make all the difference. We need to support each other, to lift each other up, and to fight back against the forces that seek to keep us down. It’s not enough to just survive; we need to thrive. And we can do it together. Let us not be statistics. Let us not be defined by our struggles, but by our triumphs. Take your health back. For yourself, for your family, for your future. FORGIVENESS I am so happy for our Men’s Group. The commitment, trust, support, empathy, protection, and love we extend to one another has been cathartic, as well as very rewarding. We discuss everything under the sun with topics inclusive of, but not limited to Temperature Check, Manhood, Brother’s Keeper, Emotional Intelligence, and Forgiveness to name a few. We understand that we will get out of our engagements whatever we are willing to put into them. Therefore, there are no right or wrong answers. Since it’s inception, we have had an 80% retention rate, leaving room for 20% new comers. That’s why it is imperative to RSVP. Seating is limited. Our ages range from 19 to 69 years young. Our professions span from college students to doctors, pastors, and retirees. The membership travels from as far as South Jersey to as near as around the corner. Our weekly presence demonstrate our commitment to engage one another in a safe space. The collective of our thoughts, vulnerabilities, and accountability have created a culture of trust. We are our brother’s keeper.

Here are some tips to help children cope with the loss of a pet: 1. 🌈 Open Communication: Start by having an open and honest conversation with your child about what happened. Use age-appropriate language and encourage them to express their feelings. 2. 🌻 Create a Memorial: Together, create a memorial for the pet. This could include a special photo album, a scrapbook, or even planting a tree or flowers in the pet's memory. 3. 📚 Books and Stories: Share books and stories that deal with pet loss. Encourage them to draw, paint, write or create something in memory of their pet. 7. 🤗 Seek Professional Help: If your child is struggling to cope, don't hesitate to seek professional guidance. Child psychologists and therapists can provide valuable support. 8. 🌟 Celebrate the Good Times: Remember the happy moments you shared with the pet. Share stories and anecdotes to keep their memory alive. 9. 💗 Love and Support: Above all, remind your child that they are loved and supported and that it's okay to grieve.
