We are a remote-first company but that hasn’t stopped us from volunteering in the communities where we live. We want to thank the Happy Hope Factory for recently giving our senior leadership team, including our CEO Fran Soistman, the opportunity to pack 200 Happy Hope Bags filled with coloring card sets, pencils and fun comics to read. The foundation’s signature Happy Hope Bags are a boost of hope for children who are hospitalized or homeless, providing hours of activity and engagement that help take a child’s mind off their treatment. Thank you to all our eHealth volunteers who participated in this year's eHealth season of giving. Look for more highlights from our volunteer events in the days and weeks ahead. #volunteer #Happyhopefoundation #giving #hope #happyhopefactory

Participation in volunteering is an excellent way for autistic people to contribute to the social and economic life of their community, to build their confidence and self-belief, and to thrive in life. Autistic people, through their diversity, can bring valuable and unique skills and experience to the volunteering sector. However, to make this experience positive, we need to firstly understand the barriers to volunteering that currently exist for autistic people and then work together to overcome these barriers. The benefits of a truly diverse volunteer organisation, that includes autistic volunteers, are immense for both the volunteer and the volunteer organisation. Empower Autism and Volunteering Queensland have developed practical tools, tips and information aimed at building the capacity of volunteer organisations to attract, engage, support and retain autistic volunteers. The guide takes you through three steps, each aiming to provide you with simple and practical tools to increase your organisations accessibility and engagement with the autistic community. If you are an organisation jump over to our website and take a look at these free resources to support your autistic volunteers to thrive within your organisation https://lnkd.in/e-YAtTU8 Volunteering Queensland #volunteering #volunteersrock

Looking for companies to make us their charity of the year and help families with disabled and life limited children!!!
How many children do you know? According to the governments recent figures 9% of children are disabled - if you know more than 11 children chances are you know of a young person with a disability and this doesn’t include children who are going through the diagnosis process or haven’t been counted for what ever reason - some figures put it as high as 1 in 8 children. Personal moment I feel like a constant failure I know I do a lot of good in the world - this isn’t a post asking you to tell me I’m great etc. The reason I feel like this is because there’s always so many more families needing help and there’s only so much Little Miracles Charity can do. I need your help! I need people who can give 2 hours a week and be empathetic to families and help them fill in forms to apply for essential equipment or benefits. The forms are quite straight forward after appropriate training but they are designed to trip families up, designed to make families concentrate on everything their child cannot do rather on the amazing human beings they are. If you can give a consistent 2 hours a week (and can be done from home) and want to help please message me for a chat. #volunteering #help

𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 ▪️ Leadership development enabler ▪️ Former Regional Chief Digital Officer ▪️ Certified NED ▪️ Quilter
Last April, Gail Deayton, my son Jack & I came up with a crazy idea... Vision: a quilt for every child currently in Po Leung Kuk orphanage & care centre for Christmas. 228 quilts for children aged 0-18 y.o., to be sewn within 8 months. Outcome: 255 quilts made by 81 volunteers in 11 countries & delivered this week. Each design is unique & each quilt now belongs to a single child (no sharing required which, for the children, is a big deal). Effort: est. 12,500 hours of work & 500 hours of coordination/support. Value to the children: priceless Cost of time, materials & postage: est. USD 100k, fully funded by volunteers and donors (thank you Selina Ko, Ruby Lam, Debbie Greig Chloe Grimmett). Tools for beginner quilters in HK were donated by Sew Easy (thank you Simon Castley) This isn’t just a heart warming story: it’s also a case study on structured collaboration process: 🎤- Meetings kept to a minimum throughout the project ➟ limited to 4 🧵- Clear instructions emailed to every potential volunteer, establishing responsibilities, the framework of non-negotiables (eg. cotton based batting, to allow the quilts to be used all year round) and clarifying areas where volunteers have total creative freedom. ➟ RACI + empowerment within a framework ✅- Project divided into age-related categories, with beginners typically oriented to the smaller sizes ➟ volunteers set up for success 🎉- Closed Facebook group used for updates, design sharing, encouragements, asking/offering help, etc. ➟ community building, collective ownership & celebrating success 🎯- Monthly email updates & weekly check ins in the closed Facebook group ➟ goal oriented comms 😕- Support to volunteers as needed ➟ the DMs on different platforms got a little overwhelming at some point?! 📈 - Project managed with a clear timeline and the mother of Excel spreadsheets ➟ clarity on deadlines & disciplined tracking 💌- All volunteers requested to write a card to the intended recipient ➟ additional step to help volunteers create an emotional bond with a child they will never meet. This resourceful group quickly became a community & over-delivered, despite very few ever meeting. Adult children enlisted their mother's help (thank you Maaike Steinebach, Tim Johnston Jenny Spray Emma-Kate Gower). Conversely, mothers enlisted their children's help (way to go Joanna Bowers & Sharmila Dantas!) Jules (Julia) White created after school club in Hong Kong International School, teaching beginner quilters. Too many volunteers to list but I connected to some of these ladies. All managed to create beautiful blankets despite demanding jobs: thank you Leslie Engelson Katynka Powning Lara Quie Amanda Chen Corina Larkin Carolyn Chandler Emma-Kate Gower Pip Wearmouth Linda Hoi Tarlan Amigh Katariina Franklin Wika Rawson Tracey Smith Shiny Leung Marianne Bazinette If you ever hear of the lack of co-location being an obstacle to #collaboration, just reach out... we can share a few tips!

Fractional Impact Professional | Measurement | Corporate Social and Community Strategy | Thought Leadership
Volunteering in 2023: A Year in Review Better Next, LLC is pleased to provide its employees (me) #flexiblescheduling to volunteer for the causes team members (still me) care about most. 💪 #SkillsBased in 2023: speaking🔈 engagements with nonprofit audiences to advise on measurement and data for corporate partnerships, including follow-up calls📞 to offer free advice on their particular situations. #HandsOnVolunteering in 2023: local elementary education 📘to expand enrichment at recess, partner with school social workers at Thanksgiving🦃 and holiday🎄 season to support families experiencing financial hardship, and build culturally appropriate community events (All this through the PTA. PTAs have all the characteristics of small nonprofit organizations with the distinct advantage of families’ deep trust). Blended activity in 2023: #CivicEngagement though increased involvement in local politics 🗳and advocacy, including some #DataAnalytics for a local city council candidate. #Volunteering is important to me because at this moment in my life, I find #communitycare fills my cup ☕️more than the albeit trendier #selfcare. I remain well-rounded and more effective because local volunteering is a steady reminder of the daily manifestations of the systemic issues I focus on during billable hours. I ended the year with a creative flourish, playing piano 🎹during lunch at a senior center. Photo of the view below. My main stage for music is in my dining room, so this experience had personal significance and garnered several (ahem) rounds of applause👏 from a very friendly audience at a very friendly time of year. Volunteering outlook for 2024 is much different – I plan to switch⏭️ my focus so I can try using my energies and efforts on other local issues. What volunteering was most important to you in 2023? What are you thinking of doing in 2024?

As we celebrate Seniors' Week, let's recognize the importance the importance of aging in place. 🏠 Aging in place empowers seniors to live life on their own terms. To achieve aging in place, it's crucial to evaluate homes and communities to meet evolving needs and establish support. Mobility is key to independence as we age, enabling seniors to reach medical appointments, grocery stores, and social events. Dependable and safe transportation is vital for seniors to maintain their independence and thrive at home. At Drive Happiness, our goal is to provide safe and affordable transportation, ensuring seniors have the necessary resources to live and age comfortably in their own homes. Our volunteers make this possible. #AgeInPlace #CommunitySupport #AccessibleTransportation #NonProfitOrganization #Volunteering #Volunteer

It is estimated that 14.2 million people in the UK volunteered their support and services through a group, club or organisation in 2021/22 and approximately 1 in 5 people, that's nearly 16% of the population volunteer at least once a month (statistics from Volunteers Week). This 'formal' volunteering comes in many forms; through the Scouting and Girl Guide associations, PTAs, working in charity shops and organisations, to help run food banks, being a Citizen Advice trustee, being a listener or advisor on a help line and many more likewise incredibly value roles. And there are countless more volunteers who perhaps would not even consider the tasks that they perform as volunteering - those who regularly care for members of their community through kind deeds such as shopping, cooking, driving, or offering childcare to those who need support. To each and every volunteer, in whatever capacity we would like to say a huge THANK YOU for all that you do! This week is the 40th year of National Volunteers Week and, if volunteering is something that you've considered, it's the perfect time to sign yourself up! Not sure how to volunteer or what you could do? Here's a few ideas: 🔸 Many businesses actively promote their staff engagement with local volunteering - speak to your HR or management about their environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies to find out more. 🔸 Get on social media and ask! Local Facebook Groups can be a great forum for offering your support. You could find yourself helping to litter pick, mend and repair community areas, or run a tea stall for an event! 🔸 Become a STEM Ambassador! Contact STEM Learning UK to see how you can engage with groups. 🔸 Join the global Repair Cafe movement! Use your creative and handy skills to fix broken items for people in your community. It's a great way to breathe new life into items which could end up going into landfill. 🔸 Be a Bupa Coding Day volunteer! Help the teachers, support staff, and children at your local primary school as they go on an exciting Healthy Lunch-Bot Coding Adventure! To hear more about volunteering your services for our Bupa Coding Days please visit: https://lnkd.in/e9EAxp3n #VounteeringWeek #Volunteer #STEMVolunteering #Volunteering #BupaCodingDay #GWTP #STEMLearning #HealthyLunchBot #CodingAdventures

Many people tell us that foster care is something that they may have thought about for a while but don’t take the next step yet because they’re full of questions. Did you know that the DCS carefully assesses all applicants? The department also provides the opportunity for prospective Foster Parents to work with a case manager to assess themselves before they accept the role of Foster Parent. Click the link below to get your questions answered or to fill out the inquiry form if you’re ready for the next step! https://zurl.co/yWS0 #nonprofit #adoption #volunteer #fostercareawareness
