Educational reform is truly a hot topic, stirring much debate. With the challenges of lifelong learning, curriculum design, and the disparities in resources among schools, the complexities are undeniable. A comprehensive solution needs to address the whole structure of the education system, not just changing qualifications. https://lnkd.in/eJx4uJ62 #educationalreform #schoolexamsystem #childrenswellbeing #childrencare #childrenswellbeing #learningresults #childrensmentalhealth #childrensservices #socialcare #socialcarejobs #socialcarerecruitment #children #wellness #wellbeing #childrensmentalhealthmatters #society

A few articles back, the topic of what happens while we wait for a special education referral to run its course was discussed. This article, from the Guardian, highlights what is happening in the UK. Does this sound familiar? “Waiting lists mean that some children will never be seen. They will ‘age out’ and join adult waiting lists.” #MTSS #SpecialEducation #K12 #SPED #RTI

A “whole-school approach to wellbeing” has become a bit of a buzz term in educational settings. But what does a whole-school approach actually look like? I think this quote from an Australian teacher who took part in the research evaluation of the Visible Wellbeing approach encapsulates a key ingredient of it nicely: collegiality. Adequate time to prepare, assess, reflect and plan seems like a minimum and not a gift (I do understand the sentiment however, not critical of the educator but the system). Let’s ask the press to start framing this issue as something teachers (and students) need as a basic resource requirement.
“We want the gift of time,” said one elementary school teacher. “We don’t need more [professional development]. We don’t need to be told what to do. We have plenty to do, which is part of the problem. You keep adding stuff to our plates. I’m telling you I need time to do those things.”
