Over a year into Cornwall's net zero energy planning policy for new homes and the policy is delivering as intended, demonstrating that new homes with negligible emissions can be delivered affordably at scale. It is beyond time for a national net zero standard.

Fascinating article on Water Planning and Management on the #ColoradoRiver - or lack thereof - written by Anne Castle who, as former Assistant Secretary of Water and Science at the U.S. Department of the Interior , worked on the front lines of this River's battles. PERSONAL NOTE: When I got my PhD in Civil Engineering/Water Resources Planning and Management - on top of my Government, Geology, Civil Engineering and Environmental Management degrees - this is the sort of career I thought I was preparing myself for. Spending my life bringing people together to create and implement collaborative solutions to great water challenges. Didn't happen. There are women like Anne who have played an important role in Water Planning and Management (and often are very good at it) - especially in the Colorado River (from people likePatricia Mulroy in Las Vegas and @Maureen Stapleton in San Diego, many at Interior, as well as women like the Founding head of the US Water Alliance and current head of USEPA 's Office of Water Radhika Fox ) - and women often are very good at bringing together disparate interests in the macho world of water. Unfortunately, there are still not a lot of Women Leaders in the Water Sector and especially not in Planning. Based on my experience and the experiences of 100s of women I have interviewed for Media or Research, every woman I know who has succeeded had a sponsor/champion and/or a level of understanding of the sometimes Machiavellian politics of water organizations (which I lacked at the time). That's one of the reasons we created the League of Extraordinary Women Of Water Mastermind, which starts at the end of the year and runs through 2024. On behalf of the BCMA, our hearts go out to the communities, organizations, and individuals impacted by recent forest fires and evacuation orders. This summer has shown, once again, how important it is that we advocate for change. Climate change is an existential threat to museums, galleries, heritage sites, intangible Indigenous cultural heritage, and the entire arts sector. While the loss of objects pales in comparison to the human suffering and loss of life caused by climate disasters, arts, culture, and heritage make our society stronger, more vibrant and are integral to learning from the past in order to build a better future. If we do not plan for future emergencies, we will witness the destruction of our shared arts, culture, and heritage over and over again. In order to safeguard the irreplaceable, we must act now.
