The number of 45 million is probably going to be lowered in the upcoming year of 2024. Websites Xvideos, Pornhub and Stripchat face a big challenge. 1. people don’t want to create an account and go to an age verification system 2. age checks based on ID’s are expensive 3. implementation of a system might take months ✅Proofme can solve this issue. "The European Commission has launched an investigation into whether the social media app TikTok has broken laws regarding the protection of minors and addictive design. With its 135.9 million monthly users in the EU, TikTok is classified as a 'very large online platform' (VLOP) within the framework of the European Digital Services Act (DSA) to better protect internet users, which is subject to the strictest rules. However, the EU suspects that the platform is not complying with the rules regarding the protection of minors, among other things. 'The protection of minors is a top enforcement priority for the DSA. Myself and many others in our industry have been alerting others to the risks associated with this app specifically but also others like it for some time. While on the surface these apps may seem benign or even entertaining - many are delivered in game formats - The massive risks certainly outweigh the small dopamine reward to their users. While regulators causing financial repercussions for organizations that clearly mine data of all kinds and actively code around security protocols on device is welcomed - the reality is it’s not enough of a dent to stop the practice as a whole - especially when state actors play a role. TikTok Fined €345 Million for Violating Children’s Privacy... The Commission is also requesting detailed information on the internal organisation of the companies to ensure compliance with the DSA. The DSA indeed requires designated very large online platforms (👉🏻🔗https://lnkd.in/gFa_ugEi) to equip themselves with independent and well-resourced internal teams with sufficient authority and resources, as well as access to the management body. Under the DSA, compliance officers must ensure that all systemic risks outlined in the regulation are identified and properly reported on. Pornhub, Stripchat and Xvideos must provide the requested information by 4 July 2024. ⚠️Pursuant to Article 74 (2) of the DSA, the Commission can impose fines for incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information in response to a request for information. In case of failure to reply, the Commission may decide to request the information by decision. In this case, failure to reply by the deadline could lead to the imposition of periodic penalty payments.
