I Have Come Here to Make Cyber Security Reassuringly Dull and Drink Coffee… and I’m All Out of Coffee
🤔Do you blame the staff?🤔 I've had this conversation time and time again. Some organisations take a very light touch approach, some take the approach of smiting all who would dare click on a phishing link (real or training-based). How do I see the right approach? A combination of all three of the following working in synchronisation: - Technology Let's face facts, WE are the most likely point of failure. You, me, them... everybody (bonus points if you know the film that's from 😎). The more you can take us out of the equation, the stronger your resilience. And that means a concerted effort to focus on a layered approach to your email security. - Training Now let me make this next point crystal clear - one training session and one phishing email a year is not a strong approach. The training approach and solution utilised should focus on the kind of strategies and tactics geared around consistent behavioural change, not one off moments. - Culture A workplace that is accepting, encourages a learning environment within their staff and promotes communication is one that is always going to come out stronger from an email breach, compared to the opposite. If your culture is to harshly discipline those who have made the most common mistake in cyber attacks, are they more or less likely to report these straight away? There is no easy "cure all" solution (and no.... AI is NOT going to magically make this all go away). But the measures are there to ensure that you reduce your risk whilst building a resilient business culture. If you'd like to know more, send me a DM. #emailsecurity #cyberresilience #cybersecurity #databreach #normcyber #teamnorm https://lnkd.in/evtrdryi
