🚨 A very interesting read on Gen Z and Office working. Can you see the differences within the different generations? 🚨 💡 In the age of remote work, Gen Z seeks a balanced "phygital" experience, blending physical and digital interactions. 💡 The future office must prioritise people over physical space to attract and retain Gen Z talent. 💡 Despite their digital prowess, there are significant differences between Gen Z and Millennials. In terms of attitudes towards money, privacy, and success, Gen Z shares more similarities with their grandparents and great-grandparents, making them akin to "Old Souls in Young Bodies." 💡 Key strategies include fostering purposeful face-to-face interactions, redefining exposure opportunities, empowering Gen Z voices in inclusive environments, and adapting to a hybrid work culture that aligns with their preferences. 💡 In summary, the office of the future needs to cater to Gen Z's desire for a blend of physical and digital experiences, focusing on meaningful connections, mentorship, and inclusive environments to engage and retain this generation of talent. https://lnkd.in/efKTKTPn

What does Gen Z's family life predictions have to do with my business and workplace design? I bet this was on everyone's mind at last week's BITA networking lunch when I brought out this slide. For the last six to seven decades most of the focus in workplace has been on the development of the technology that we used to get things done. In the 60's and 70's it was about the typewriter, stationary phones and piles of paperwork. 80's brought in the biggest advancement- the personal computer. This meant that workplace design and employee workload now was focused on this huge machine. 90's was and era of mobile - smaller PC's, laptops and mobile phones suddenly gave employees the flexibility to take work with them. 2000's is where the biggest shift started to happen. Google and their two story high indoor slides and sensory rooms set a trend that eventually would change the shift from technology to the employee. A lot of people blame the pandemic for the fact that employees are reluctant to return the office and for the lack of their productivity. But if you actually connect the dots and see how the workplace has evolved in the last few decades, you will also find that the pandemic only served as an accelerator to what was coming for the corporate world. Focus now has to be on the employee and their needs if companies want to build strong and successful teams. Millennials are taking on senior positions and Gen Z's will be the workforce that will actually make things happen. How much do you know about them, their lifestyle and values? Is your organisation offering them the environment where they can really thrive as an employee as well as an individual? You must take this seriously and implement changes now before your competitor has. The next wave of talent has access to all of the data and social proof to make an informed decision of which company to join. It's all just a quick 'google' away. Let's chat more about this and see how we can create a space that supports and nurtures your employees. There's some fantastic research backing up all of this and could really change the game for your business! Get in touch and let's see what we can do- studio@spaceforedit.com Special thanks to Go Green Office Solutions Shane Hanley for the opportunity to shed more light on the workplace design topic.
